It’s Delicious, and Nutritious, err…..

We used to always have this saying growing up – “it’s delicious and nutritious and makes you feel ambitious. but who’s gonna do the dishes?!”

Well, I don’t know if I’d call Potatoes au Gratin nutritious, but I made this recipe exactly like Ree said to (Note: I have never before used heavy cream and whole milk in a recipe – apparently I’ve been calorie counting ever since I learned how to cook.)…and OH MY SWEET LORD JESUS it was divine. For a carb & cheese junkie like me (read: I absolutely cannot have white cheddar cheese-its in my house), I was in heaven. It took huge restraint on my part to share this lovely dish and not sneak into the back room eating bites from its hidden place all night. Not that I’ve ever done that. Ever.
At any rate, Hubby will eat anything, and though he’s fine with eating lots of salad and chicken, he raved last night about the homemade chili and potatoes au gratin I whipped up. Gotta admit, it was almost worth the extra inch around my waist this morning. šŸ™‚

  1. Weird, I'm making chili on Sunday. Football, you know. And I'm with you on the carb/cheese thing. They make things taste SO DAMN GOOD. Waist inches be damned.

  2. You ever make chili cheese mac? Hubby got me hooked on that b/c of Steak and Shake. We make a batch of spaghetti noodles…toss in a can of hormel beanless chili…and add a generous helping of provel cheese. Not for the faint of heart. šŸ™‚ I try to limit myself to twice a year on that particular meal choice!

  3. i love this, there are so many of her recipes i'm dying to try
