Five Question Friday! 03.12.10

My Little LifeIt’s Five Question Friday (which I haven’t gotten around to doing in ages it feels like!) so head on over to Mama M’s blog to link up or read other people’s answers!
1. How much time do you spend on the computer a day?
Um, is “lots and lots” an amount of time? I work on a computer…so I’m on one from 8:30-5:30… but I also check my email while I eat breakfast around 7… and often dink around on it at night after work. In short, TOO FREAKIN MUCH TIME. That’s how much I spend on the computer. 🙂 It’s hard when some of the coolest people I know I’ve met online, and that’s my way to interact with them all!

2. Will you pay for your children’s college or raise them to pay for their own way?
Ooh – I like Mama M’s answer to this one, though I don’t know if it will be financially feasible. I paid my own way…though technically, I was lucky I was a smarty pants. My 4 year college education cost about $100k, and luckily for me, I got a ton of scholarships and federal grants and work study jobs (teaching after-school French to elementary kids and doing campus tours) that covered damn near all of it. I took out $8,500 for “spending money” when I was going to school in France, and that was the only debt I left college with. Yahoo!! Most of my friends graduated $50k+ in debt, so I thank my lucky stars that I worked hard for all of those scholarships as a high schooler!

3. Have you ever been in a car accident?
Yep. Not a good one. I referenced it back in January in another FQF, but basically, I was driving way too fast, flipped my car a bunch of times, and was lucky enough to walk out of there bruised and broken but alive. I broke 5 ribs, 6 vertebrae, both lungs collapsed, etc… so yeah, quite lucky!

Other than that, just the normal mid-west hitting deer sort of thing. I watched a huge one bounce off the front of my car, FLIP over my car, and land splat on the road behind me. Gave me nightmares for months.

4. What is your favorite book?
I have no idea… like Mama M said, I LOVE LOVE LOVE to read, but after I’ve zipped through a book, I can put it down, think that was a great book, and then promptly forget it. Oops. Most recently I’ve been into Wally Lamb’s books though. She’s Come Undone was AMAZING – I highly recommend reading it if you haven’t!

5. Do you make your bed everyday?
Yep! I’m fairly anal about it. We have a TINY house & people usually have to walk through our bedroom to get to the bathroom, so I think that’s a huge part of it. We’ll see if that habit continues once we have a more private bedroom area and kids everywhere. 🙂

  1. I am a sucker for these types of things! By the way, how horrible your car accident – very scary.1. I work on the computer for my job ALL day as well. Depending on my mood I don't want to even look at a computer when I get home. 2. hmmmm, I don't know. I hope they can get scholarships!! I took loans out for me and my parents helped where they could. I also had a job and paid for as much as I could. To me it was important to learn that responsibility in college. I would want my kids to have to work but it would be nice if we were able to help them out financially as well. 3. Just a little fender bender in a parking lot. One of my biggest fears is getting in a cr accident. I hate driving.4. Anything by Dr. Seuss! :)5. Nope. My husband makes his half but I do not like sleeping with the covers tucked in so I just like to leave my side a mess because that is how I sleep!!

  2. 1.) 8-5 as well as first thing in the morning and before bed. Lots!2.)I will help, but will not give him a "free ride." He'll have to work summers and put that money towards school. And hopefully there will be lots of scholarships!3.) Only fender benders.4.) I'm a huge fan of Eat, Pray, Love and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo was amazing as well.5.)Depends on if I have someone coming over! Haha. Usually not if I'm not expecting guests. Thanks for posting this; it was fun!

  3. Ugh, so I totally jinxed myself with this post about car accidents!! Ah well, cars can be fixed.
