Little Miracles…a Mother’s Day Post

05/06/10: By the time y’all read this post, I’ll be hanging out in Norway with my 4th cousin once removed, Torbjorn, and another relative, Sven. How Norwegian are those names?! Not gonna lie, I’m pretty dang excited about that. 🙂

The reason I’ve scheduled this post is to say please please pretty please be praying for me that I come back to the states a pregnant girl…and if not a pregnant one, at least one who has ovulated!

Back on the 26th of April, I was having a really hard time of it. It was the 10 year anniversary of my cousin’s passing, I missed him terribly, and I just really really wanted to be pregnant. Not that I don’t wish I was pregnant every day, but that day more than others, I was very sad…

A funny thing happened this past week and a half though. Since CD40 I have been religiously temping at 5:45am (it used to be between 6-7am and that was just not giving me a good enough indication of what my temps were doing as you’ll see on my chart below), and looking back at my chart, I think I might have ovulated on the 26th!! I don’t know for sure, but I actually had a spike in my temperatures and it has stayed higher, so even though I was on CD50 that day, I am keeping my fingers crossed that my body ovulated. I think it’s just such a great sign that this occurred on that particular day in my life, you know?

I didn’t want to jinx this by writing anything about this before, plus I’m not sure how I feel about possibly getting my BFP while in Norway and away from my husband (he has no idea about the BBT spike – I wanted to surprise him), but I definitely will be taking a test with me b/c I have to know one way or the other before I start taking the Provera to start a new cycle. If it’s a BFP, that would be insanely awesome…and if it’s a BFN, well, it would still be pretty awesome to think that my body is at least starting to get back on track. I don’t have any other “signs” really of being preggo, but I’m stoked to think that maybe my body ovulated on it’s own.

Please be praying for me!!

5/7/10 Update: Fertility Friend just gave me a “Tri-Phasic Chart” indication with possible ovulation on CD53. I just don’t know what to think! I have 3 HPTs to bring to Norway with me, so I guess I’ll be testing a few times before I start the Provera. Craziness! I’m just hoping at praying we “did the deed” on the right days… these past couple of weeks we’ve just been so tired with the house craziness that we weren’t being religious about the every other day thing. Also, I really need to get better about writing down my Cervical Mucus stuff. I’m just having issues with having ANY really (side effect of the Clomid) so if this isn’t a positive cycle, I’m going to start FertileCM this next cycle to try to ensure some fertile quality cm. MAN do I hope this works!!!

5/7/10 Update #2: I just went to the bathroom and there was blood on the toilet paper. WTF?! I have NO idea what’s going on with my body… we’ll see if this turns into full blown AF I guess. If so, that’s great that my cycle ended itself at “only” 60 days, but, if this ends up being CD1, I will be gone CD2-CD13 & we’re supposed to be doing the baby making every other day from CD5 on…yikes! Either way, I’m definitely bringing my Clomid, etc. with me to Norway.

As a side note, if FF is right and I ovulated on CD53 and on CD61 I’m getting AF, that’s not great either… that would only give me an 8 day luteal phase…not anywhere long enough to let a baby implant. Hm… we’ll see how this next cycle goes I guess – might have to get some progesterone cream or something.

What is a triphasic chart pattern? Does it mean I am pregnant if I have a triphasic chart pattern? Do I have to have a triphasic chart to be pregnant?

A triphasic chart shows three levels of temperatures: pre-ovulation, post-ovulation, and then a second rise around 7-10 days after ovulation. Some women with charts that show this pattern turn out to be pregnant. But many do not. Likewise, your chart does not need to show this kind of pattern for you to be pregnant. Whether or not you are pregnant, progesterone, the hormone responsible for raising your temperature after ovulation, generally peaks in the middle of your luteal phase and this can cause this kind of pattern whether or not you are pregnant.

A triphasic chart can be promising, however, because progesterone levels generally increase after implantation (7-10 days past ovulation) in conception cycles, and sometimes this results in a triphasic pattern. If your chart shows a second significant thermal shift that begins 7-10 days past ovulation, Fertility Friend will indicate a triphasic pattern in the Pregnancy Monitor. A triphasic chart, however, is not a definite sign that you are or are not pregnant. It is just increasing your probability if you also have well-timed intercourse. Likewise, you can be pregnant and not have a triphasic pattern. Like all signs of possible implantation or pregnancy, you can really only speculate about it once a pregnancy has already been confirmed.

  1. FX and saying a prayer for you <3 Have fun in Normawy!

  2. Damnit! Your post was like a roller coaster of emotions. Before I finished reading it I was already preparing an email to "da girls" about "da thing" you wrote about and to make sure they read it. Then I just cried at the end a little. The good thing is that your body is doing something. It's preparing and getting back into the game and that's important. Maybe it's not AF. Maybe it's implantation bleeding. That's a thought too!I get what you're saying though. How awesome would it be if that was the date you got pregnant. I need to stop saying awesome, don't I?xoxoxox

  3. I agree with Junket; look at the positive and that it seems like your body is trying to get back in line. Keep us updated!!

  4. "I am in a glass box of emotion!". This was a roller coaster, like Junket said. Stay positive lady. At minimum something is going on and when you get home you and hubs will start getting busy again. Brown Chicken Brown Cow! If you are preggo and it is implantation bleeding, then that ROCKS! Either way it is good news that the cycle is shorter. Maybe our ovaries e-mail each other while we are sleeping?

  5. I kind of think you could have ovulated a couple days earlier (CD 50?), but who knows! In any case, have fun in Norway!

  6. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

  7. Fingers crossed for you, too.

  9. […] love looking back at past years to see how much has changed. Three years ago, I was happily on the way to Norway with my Mom and sisters, but I was also starting to realize […]
