We’re almost home!!

A few of you have reminded me that I’ve yet to post any pictures of the remodel. I have a gazillion photos, but here are a few to give you a general idea of what we’ve been doing. Basically the entire house was white…white walls, whitish/gray cabinets, pale carpet, pale floors, etc. We painted everything, tore out two walls in the kitchen, replaced the entry/kitchen/pantry tile… lots of changes, and we LOVE it so far! We also moved the laundry to the garage and made it a big pantry instead. I can’t wait to be all moved in!!
Pre-painting, wall demolishing, and kitchen gutting. 🙂
With the wall torn out and the cabinet boxes installed. Counters and end panels to be installed this week! We’ll probably not have the front for a couple of weeks, but I can live with that.
You can kind of see the new tile in this picture. We love love love the way it turned out! Much better than the beigey stuff what was there before.
The bedrooms have color in them now. The orange photographs kind of bright, but it’s a really soft color in real life. The green is the upstairs room that we’re making into our Master. It’s a little smaller, but since there’s no powder room, we either had to have guests walk through the master to use the restroom or go upstairs, neither of which we liked, so we decided to make the whole upstairs area our master “suite” area and the downstairs room is now the guest room.
The loft in the upstairs will be our exercise room / office space. When money allows, I want to put a tv on the wall in front of the elliptical so I can watch my shows while I work out!
We have one incredibly tiny closet that we share in our current rental, so we are beyond excited to have space for our clothes in the new house! There are three closets upstairs (two hanging, one for folded stuff) plus three more downstairs that we’re putting winter stuff, sports stuff, etc. in. YAY! It drives my husband nuts that I hung my stuff by color. 🙂 We have probably 75% of our clothing and stuff moved across so far…hence why I had to run over to the new place this morning for the undergarments I needed with my outfit today.
The garage is full of stuff right now, but slowly it’s coming together! DH built a nook in back for the washer/dryer and scored a free 9′ cabinet for the wall from his job site. He also took a break to blow up our raft…hopefully we’ll be on the river this weekend!!
The front yard & garden are cleaned up – now to get some more flowers planted!
Our backyard! Eventually we want to take out the chain link fence and have just the wooden fence that surrounds the property, but at the moment, our dog can’t jump the chain link, so we’re leaving it in. We also want to build a wooden deck off the back, instead of just having the cement pad that currently in place.
So there ya go! We have a ton more to do, but the house is finally beginning to take shape!! We are so happy. 🙂

  1. Yay house!!!PS, I LOVE that you hung your clothes by color. I totally ROYGBIV my closet too. Except I do them by style. ROYGBIV the sleeveless, then ROYGBIV the short-sleeves, then the long sleeves, then the dresses, then the skirts and pants, then the hoodies and coats.I'm not OCD at all.

  2. LOL, I'm working my way up to that level I think. My current closet is hung by style…the new one by color…it only makes sense to do BOTH now that you mention it! 🙂
