ENFJ

I just decided to take a Jung / Myers-Briggs typology test (I can’t remember the results from one I did years ago) and it was fairly interesting for me to read through. Here are my results…

Your Type is ENFJ

Strength of the preferences
Extraverted – 89% very expressed extravert
Intuitive – 25% moderately expressed intuitive personality
Feeling – 62% distinctively expressed feeling personality
Judging – 33% moderately expressed judging personality

I definitely consider myself to be outgoing, a planner, trusting, empathetic… a lot of things that ENFJs are known for (Barack Obama is an ENFJ!). That’s another part of my frustration with this whole TTC situation – it’s not going according to plan, and it’s making me ridiculously sad way too often, especially as I realize that more and more people around me are also struggling with similar situations.

At any rate, I was reading through this description of people with ENFJ personalities, and it was incredibly interesting to me. I’ve highlighted a few fields that I really identified with.

How about you – have you ever taken one of these tests? Do they seem to be “spot on” with your personality?

ENFJs are the benevolent ‘pedagogues’ of humanity. They have tremendous charisma by which many are drawn into their nurturant tutelage and/or grand schemes. Many ENFJs have tremendous power to manipulate others with their phenomenal interpersonal skills and unique salesmanship. But it’s usually not meant as manipulation — ENFJs generally believe in their dreams, and see themselves as helpers and enablers, which they usually are.

ENFJs are global learners. They see the big picture. The ENFJs focus is expansive. Some can juggle an amazing number of responsibilities or projects simultaneously. Many ENFJs have tremendous entrepreneurial ability.

ENFJs are, by definition, Js, with whom we associate organization and decisiveness. But they don’t resemble the SJs or even the NTJs in organization of the environment nor occasional recalcitrance. ENFJs are organized in the arena of interpersonal affairs. Their offices may or may not be cluttered, but their conclusions (reached through feelings) about people and motives are drawn much more quickly and are more resilient than those of their NFP counterparts.

ENFJs know and appreciate people. Like most NFs, (and Feelers in general), they are apt to neglect themselves and their own needs for the needs of others. They have thinner psychological boundaries than most, and are at risk for being hurt or even abused by less sensitive people. ENFJs often take on more of the burdens of others than they can bear.
TRADEMARK: “The first shall be last”
This refers to the open-door policy of ENFJs. One ENFJ colleague always welcomes me into his office regardless of his own circumstances. If another person comes to the door, he allows them to interrupt our conversation with their need. While discussing that need, the phone rings and he stops to answer it. Others drop in with a ‘quick question.’ I finally get up, go to my office and use the call waiting feature on the telephone. When he hangs up, I have his undivided attention!

  1. haha. Love it! I'm ESFJ. Still reading to figure out exactly what that means. 😉

  2. I'm also an ENFJ! I teach a class where the first assignment is to take this test and post what everyone's type is. From there, they all choose learning groups that they will stay in for the remainder of their program. It's fun to see where people stand, and hear them defend how true it usually is.

  3. i'm an intj- the profile is DEAD ON. the cold and solitary rational thinker.

  4. I'm an ESTJ. Have been every single time I take this one. And it's pretty damn accurate.

  5. Wait, wait, I just took it again (seeing as how it's been years since I took one). It changed. Bizarre. Apparently I'm an ESFJ. Weird.http://typelogic.com/esfj.html

  6. Just a fun little test to take. :-)@Bradshaw – you changed from a thinker to a feeler? Interesting. 🙂

  7. I'm getting soft in my old age. 🙂 It was only like 1% feeler. I'm still very much a thinker.

  8. Yay how fun thanks for posting I have will have to take this test.

  9. EFNP. Weirdly feel like I haven't done this before. Mine was SPOT ON!! Same as Oprah Winfrey. LOL 🙂
