Baby Showers Galore

Yesterday was a hard day for me, but also a good day for me. I had two baby showers to attend (one at 11am about two hours away) and one at 4pm (about 30 minutes away), so it was a long day of being around babies, thinking about babies, talking about babies, and just trying to keep my shit together and not break down crying b/c I really didn’t want the day to be about me, it was about the beautiful mommies-to-be. I tell ya, I was gone from 9am – 7:30pm… it was a long day.
The first baby shower was for S. She is about 31 weeks along (her doc just moved her due date out another week b/c the baby is measuring so small) and looks great! She used to live in the little town where I do, but she moved away about three years ago, so it was fun to get back in touch. We actually got our 3.5 yr old border collie mix from her when she moved away.
After a little crying jag on the drive between the two showers (about a 2 hr drive) I showed up at baby shower #2.
This was for one of my best friends in the area who I wrote about here. She is due on the 29th, so she’s about 37 weeks along. When she walked in wearing this dress my jaw just dropped – another friend and I had bought it for her at her bachelorette party in Vegas 1 1/2 years ago. NEVER thought about it for an 8+ months along pregnant lady. Doesn’t she look cute?!
So yeah… yesterday was emotionally exhausting, I’m tired of crying, and I definitely wouldn’t want to do it again any time soon, but I’m glad I went and supported my girlfriends. Hopefully they would do the same for me if the situation were reversed…

  6. Thanks everyone! I just posted a couple more pictures in this post as well. I think the hardest part for me was that both were unplanned pregnancies… sometimes the universe just seems a little screwy. Not saying they both won't be great Mommies, but that just made it a little "extra" hard.

  7. You are a very strong person to make it through that day. It's so easy to make up excuses and not go, but you did it, and that says a lot about your character, and how much you deserve to be with them. And I hope it's soon!
