Missed Connections

Hey everyone – sorry I’ve been out of touch. We had the travel weekend from hell thanks to missed connections in Denver both on the flight out on Friday night (a sick flight attendant + replacement too far away = pilots over their allowed flight hours ==> cancelled flight at 11pm) and on the flight back in on Sunday night (bad weather in Chicago = our plane coming in from the east coast was hours delayed = we don’t get into Denver until 1am).

This picture should show you just a portion of the hell that was our weekend. –>

Things could have been worse, but not by much. Our replacement flight into Sioux Falls was scheduled for a 10pm arrival into Sioux Falls on Saturday – obviously a LITTLE too late for my cousin’s wedding, and they wouldn’t have to refund us anything b/c they were getting us into town within 24 hrs of the original time (22 hrs later, to be exact). After I had a “talk” with the gate agent, they routed us through MSP and then to Sioux Falls via a Delta flight, and thanks to a WONDERFUL Delta agent in Minneapolis, we got on an even earlier flight out of MSP so we got into SF at 12:30 instead of 3pm, so we actually made it to the wedding!

BTW, the wedding was awesome. Seeing my family was awesome (though we missed the Christmas Card photo shoot Saturday morning b/c of the flight fiasco). That part of the trip was great. 🙂 I took zero pictures b/c my camera has officially died, but I’ll try to get some from my Mom later.

Yesterday we spent the day in Sioux Falls hanging out with one of my old college roommates and her hubby & daughter. Wonderful day, beautiful weather, good friends…we were thinkin’ life was lookin’ up.

They dropped us off at the aiport at 7pm for our 8pm flight (this pic was taken outside the airport) but thanks to weather delays, our flight didn’t end up leaving until 11:15pm (after we racked up WAY too big of a tab at the airport bar & restaurant where I conveniently FORGOT MY BRAND NEW KINDLE on the bar *ARGGH*). United told us in Sioux Falls that they weren’t going to reimburse us for the hotel room or anything, but thank goodness we found a different desk agent in Denver that got us a free room at the Renaissance that was gorgeous and had the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. Considering we walked into the room at 1:30am the morning of our 2 year anniversary, I was quite grateful to have a beautiful bed to fall into instead of the airport floor!
Long story short, we finally got home at 11:30 this morning, so we both missed a half day of work and are exhausted from sleeping 4-5 hrs per night for the last four nights. I think this will be a very low-key anniversary evening. 🙂
Update on the TTC stuff coming later this afternoon!
