Q&A

Stephanie over at Blawnde’s Blawg tagged me in a Q&A today, and since I have a ton on my mind but nothing I can blog about right now, I’m excited to fill in a few of the blanks on something like this. 🙂 Basically, I have to answer the questions Stephanie sent my way, then I make up my own questions and tag more people who hopefully play along. So here it goes:

1) How did you meet your significant other?
Well, I moved to a tiny town of 600 people back in December 2004, and one night after work I went out with a few girlfriends/coworkers for a drink when we got off our shift at the restaurant. I offered to buy the first round of drinks for us, but when I went to pay, the cute guy across the bar had already picked up the tab! We ended up not dating until a few months later, but since we’re the same age and had mutual friends, we started running into each other around town quite a bit, and by April 2005 we took the plunge. The rest is history!

2) If you were invisible, where would you go?
I’d love to be able to walk through something like the Vatican with no restrictions, no eyes on me – just being free to wander wherever I wanted at my own pace.

3) What is the kindest thing anyone has ever done for you?
Wow. I’m not sure – lots of kind experiences in my life. On that I’ll never forget is from when I moved to France for six months when I was 22. The host family I stayed with refused any payment for room & board (which saved me over $4,000!) and told me to use the money to instead travel around Europe and really experience France while I was there. Very cool. I am definitely hoping to return the favor to a foreign exchange student in my own home some day.

4) What kind of food do you prefer eating when you are out?
Sushi!! I love love love it, and I don’t get to have if often enough because of where I live. Huge fan though. 🙂

5) As a teenager, where did you think you’d be at this point in your life?
Honestly, I figured I’d be married with #2 on the way. I figured I’d have a job that allowed me to travel, a husband that loved me (which thankfully I have!), and a little family started. Things change…

6) Name one thing about you that would surprise most people.
I have awful self confidence issues. If you know me IRL, you’d probably never think it, but I definitely do. I’m outgoing and make friends easily, but self confidence is a whole ‘nuther ball of wax. Working on that…

7) If you had three wishes, what would they be?
To live closer to my family (parents & siblings).
To life a long, loving life together with my husband.
To have healthy, happy children of my own.
8) When you have an hour of free time, what do you like to do?

Read a book. I love to read, and I don’t get to do it nearly enough. I’m working at getting better at making it a priority!

Now, for the bloggers I chose to tag:
Oak @ The Elusive Embryo

…and here are your questions!

1) What is your dream occupation?
2) How many children (if any!) do you want?
3) What’s your favorite memory from high school?
4) What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done?
5) Who is your idol and why?
6) If you could go back and change one decision you’ve made in your life, would you? If you’re comfortable with it, please share the decision!
7) Stilettos or flip flops?
8) What’s the #1 place in the world that you’d like to travel to and why?

Getting flat out TACKLED by my little sister in the Senior/Junior powder puff football game.4. Oh something you might remember, had to do with Hollywood Boulevard and pajamas and McDonald's/Starbucks…5. Marie Curie. She was a trailblazer for women in the sciences, literally gave her life for her passion, and was just damn smart all at the same time.6. No. I know people say this all the time, but I wouldn't be where I am now if I did. It's not where I expected, and somethings DEFINITELY didn't go how I planned them, but those choices forced me to learn. So I learn, and I move on.7. Depends on the situation. I love my flippie floppies, but I'll rock the hell out of some stilettos.8. Italy. Music, food, wine, history, art, architecture, the language. You name it. I will go one day.

  5. Ooh, those are some tough questions. I look forward to answering them. And very interesting to read your answers. What an amazing thing that family in France did for you! That would be awesome if you could pay it forward one day :).
