What a Way to Start Valentine’s Day

Well, so far so good. We started out this beautiful Valentine's Day in a not-so-conventional way. At 8:15am, C was in a room with dirty magazines and videos "giving his sample" for the SA and I was with Debbie (my AWESOME ultrasound tech) with a dildo in me (aka – a transvaginal ultrasound wand). Yep, we're romantic like that. Happy Valentine's Day honey.

On a serious note, things are pretty good so far. Cervix, uterus, ovaries, and lining measure perfectly (lining 5mm on CD5, which is good apparently). Then she went to count the follicles – "normal" is 4-10 or so per side…I had 20-25 per side.

Why hello PCOS, nice to meet you too!

Can't tell for certain until we get the Day 3 bloodwork back and see if my LH and FSH levels are inverted (I think those are the two she mentioned), but with that many follicles + long cycles, it's most likely that's the case.

Finally, on the left ovary she saw an area that either showed I ovulated from that side last or have a 1.3×1.8mm area of endo. No way to tell which without a series of ultrasounds to see if it disappears or not. At least it's nothing to worry about, she said, because it's not hindering the growth of my follies.

So that's where we stand so far. Consults with the RE, genetics, nurses, plus bloodwork coming up later (the HSG isn't until tomorrow). I can't wait until we have a plan in place!

  3. I think my LH was way lower than my FSH and I had 20+ follicles on each ovary when I'd have those ultrasounds and yet my first RE never mentioned PCOS.Happy Valentine's day! It may not be conventional but it's a new start to building your family 😉
