Good morning!

I haven’t done ICLW for a long time, but we’re finally at a new crossroads in our IF journey, and I decided it was time to jump back on the bandwagon. 🙂 If you’d like to join this month – click on the link above today!

A quick synopsis of our journey… (for the long-winded version, click here)

Married July 2008.
Started TTC July 2009.
Feb. 2010 went to my OB/GYN after a 118 day cycle – diagnosed with probable PCOS.
4 cycles of Clomid got me ovulating, but no BFP.
I still have very irregular cycles, so timing is a pain in the ass. I’ve taken my temperature and checked my CM nearly every day for 18 months. I definitely think this will be one of my favorite habits to abolish the day I get that BFP!
We tried 3 natural cycles with just acupuncture & herbs in the fall of 2010, but by Dec 2010 I was tired of waiting, and we finally took the step of contacting an RE. We were both just laid off, and even though we don’t have a ton of money right now, at least we have the time, right?! 😉

Part of the reason it took us so long to do this is that we live in the middle of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado… we love where we live – the hiking, skiing, and rafting are amazing…but we’re also 6 hours and many mountain passes from the nearest RE. Not exactly convenient. Plus, like most of you out there, this is all OOP, so biting the bullet was a scary step!

That being said, I had my initial consult with CCRM (I highly recommend this clinic!) in January 2011, just as I was turning 29, and we went up for our ODWU just last week.

The plan moving forward…
(1) Freeze a sample from my husband b/c he just got a job working out of state – 16 days gone, 12 days here, so the chances of him being gone when I ovulate are pretty high.
(2) Gear up for my next cycle in March! We’re going to do Clomid + gonadotropins + IUI. I am so stinkin’ excited for this next phase of our journey.

Our RE is extremely optimistic that IUI will be our ticket… he says he’s confident that 3 cycles would be the max we’d need. Most of our tests came back great, so with careful monitoring thanks to the PCOS, we’re hoping this finally work! If 3 cycles don’t do it for us, we’d be on to the big bad scary IVF world. Praying that doesn’t happen.

If you choose to follow, my blog is kind of a clusterfuck of information. I drink (though I’m cutting that out for the IUI cycle… eek!), I swear (though I’m trying to cut back, Mom, I promise!), and I have faith in God that somehow this is His plan for us. I write about our life here in CO nearly as much as I write about my CM – you’re welcome for that. 🙂
