Here we go – round #1, shot #1!
This is a 5 minute video, and probably pretty boring for most of you, but I wanted to document my first shot. 🙂 If you watch it, you can see me almost stick a LONG-ASS needle into my belly instead of the 1/2″ needle and then not even know how to unscrew it. Oops.
I kind of mumbled in the video, but I said somthing like “for those of you who have done hundreds of these, I admire you.” DEFINITELY DEFINITELY! Thank you so much everyone who has emailed me tips about this. It seems so simple (and honestly, it IS pretty simple), but there’s something about shooting oneself up that got me pretty nervous!
That being said, I wasn’t so much nervous about the needle as I was about making sure I did everything correctly. I did no less that 5 things incorrect in the video above, but at least I always caught my mistakes, and I think I did everything right! It didn’t sting going in, but by 30 minutes later, it definitely had a little sting to it and the injection site was all red and raised.
Please excuse the pudgy belly and snow white skin. I’m actually not as pale as I look in the video, but my webcam wasn’t registering me quite right. Ah well.
Okay, enough of me blowing up your reader lately. I promise to try to cut back on the posts for awhile!

Awesome job!!! It is nervewracking and I think we ALL almost stuck ourselves with the wrong needle (or have!) at least once. One down!

Way to go! It is intimidating sticking yourself for the first time (I was a medic and it still bothered me a bit in the beginning). Hoping and praying this is the cycle that works for you.ICLW #36

Good job! If you ice the injection area before you inject the medication it really helps! I am so excited for you to begin!

Good work, I don't know how I am going to do it. i think the dosage part is the most stressful too. I haven't done it yet but I think I will have my sister do it. She's a nurse and we live right by eachother. You did awesome though!

Oh my goodness, you are SO brave to videotape this and share it. And I have to say much more cool, calm and collected than I when it comes to the shots. I usually have a 3-5 min freak out before the shot where Im whining and wimpering like a five year old. You rocked it 🙂
It takes a brave woman to do that. I told Josh he has to the be one to stick the needle in my belly. Here to you only having to do this for one month!!!! (cuz you're going to get pregnant!)
Glad you didn't stick yourself with that huge needle, good catch! I am also interested to see what my RE suggests, I will let you know! I hope you get your BFP this month! Sounds like we do have a lot in common.
Here from ICLW. Ah, yes, I remember my very first shots. That was about 300 injections ago. Good luck to you on your first cycle.
