10 weeks, and lots of good news!

I figured I needed a balancing post after the sadness of yesterday, so here we go!

*Even though I puked 4x yesterday and had a rough day, so far today I’ve made it to 5pm without a single yak. WHO-HOO!!! I’ve had 23 days in row of all day puking & nausea, and I am so hoping to break that streak.

*The anti-nausea med I’m on (zo.fran) is still causing major GI issues, but when the plumbing decides to work, I found out that I supposedly still weigh the same as I did on BFP day (161#). This morning I weighed in at 163# on my scale and this afternoon at 168# on the midwife’s scale, but whatever, I’m just gonna roll with it. So far I feel like I look the same as I did with a beer belly, though after 6 weeks of not drinking, I’d hope that’s more baby/less beer going on in my gut at this point. Sorry for the cruddy cell phone pic – I’ll get my DSLR pics loaded up soon!

*Everything went awesome with my first official midwife appointment today. They even have a crappy old u/s machine that they let us get checks from for free (that’s right – F.R.E.E.!!!), and I got to see the little RockStar kicking and punching and rolling around. SO. AWESOME. First time I’ve seen him/her in nearly a month – so glad to know that everything is okay.

We didn’t do measurements or anything, but on the actual screen, RockStar was clearly a little human, and you could easily see the flickering of the heart and the arms & legs kicking and punching. Totally crazy and awesome. πŸ™‚

*The midwife says my EDD is Dec23. I’ve seen conflicting info depending on how you count stuff with the IUI, so I think I’m still going with the 22nd and calling myself 10w today. So there. πŸ™‚

*I refused all genetic testing today. Just didn’t want to go there, because it wouldn’t change the outcome anyway.

*We decided that in the 3rd tri I’m going to get tested for gon.horrea & clah.mydia. Not b/c I’m a dirty hussy (haha) but b/c I’d really like to decline the eye goo on the baby after birth, and I guess that’s given to prevent issues “in case” the Mom has either of those STDs. I just want to 100% be able to say I do NOT have those things so do NOT touch my baby’s eyes.

*When I was in the bathroom at the midwives’ office, I realized they have the same print framed that I have hanging in my house. I like that.

*I have my computer back as of this afternoon!!!! 5 weeks of no computer + debilitating nausea has greatly sucked. From your phone it’s hard to read blogs, write blogs, comment on blogs…you know, all of the important stuff to daily life.  πŸ˜‰  Hopefully that will now change!

How far along? 10 weeks
Size of baby? Kumquat (which we love b/c we painted a bunch of our interior walls kumquat orange!)

Total Weight Gain? who knows… ?
Maternity clothes? No, though most pants are way tight.
Sleep? Okay – better than before. I’ve been falling asleep with Enya on my iPod every night lately, and that seems to help.
Best moment this week? Seeing that the kiddo was alive and kickin!!
Food cravings? Grapes. Vanilla ice cream w/Hershey’s chocolate syrup. Tac.o Bel.l crunchy tacos. Tart apples.

What I miss? Not much today. C is off drinking beer with our friends right now, and I def miss that socialization, but hopefully soon I’ll feel up to at least socializing, even though I can’t drink.
What I’m looking forward to? Feeling comfortable telling ppl about this pregnancy. Will I ever feel comfortable?
Weekly Wisdom: Try to trust your docs. I’m still nervous about my progesterone level dropping last week, but since they’re not worried, I’m trying not to worry either.
Milestones: I’m 1/4 of the way to meeting this child!!
Emotions: Thankful. Tired.
Symptoms: Nausea, usually accompanied by puking. Extreme fatigue. Boobs are still a little tender.

That’s all for now folks. πŸ™‚

  1. You are so cute and are going to be even cuter with a big belly!!!Congratulations on 10 weeks – that's a great milestone to celebrate!

  2. YAY for 10 weeks!

  3. So glad you you are feeling better today! And glad to know you have your computer back. I have missed your more frequent posts πŸ™‚

  4. 10 weeks – YAY!!!I remember that is when we saw Henry for the first time and was the BIGGEST relief ever to see him moving and healthy! So excited for you!!Oh and I have always had issues with things not "moving" properly down below and they are horrible now. Benefiber helps but Colace (with NO laxative) has been a huge help. I also must eat at least 2-3 prunes every day and that helps a LOT. If I go a few days with out prunes I am done for. And yes, I realize I sound like I am 80 yrs old πŸ™‚

  5. Yay for more milestones- a good 10 week u/s and a day with little or no m/s! Can't wait to celebrate more milestones along the way!

  6. Yay a belly pic! You look fantastic even though you feel like crap…just want you to know that. And what a cool picture of little rockstar! So neat that you could see her (yes, I think it's a her) moving around…Hope your streak continues for the rest of the night, you deserve a little break xo

  7. Weird. I'm not the only one who thinks it's a girl (I told you about that instant thought, right?).Either way, I like that you got one crunchy taco supreme while I was on the phone with you. I like that mostly b/c I usually want tacos, and so if I ever decide to have kids, I'll be able to eat them GUILT FREE. Ah, who am I kidding? I eat them anyway. Tacos sound good right now. Dammit.Love you and your little peanut! Yes, she will be a peanut until she's born and I decide what animal she looks like. πŸ˜€

  8. Yay for a weekly update! Can't want to follow along with your pregnancy! You look wonderful mama – you'd never know you were feeling so crummy.

  9. Yay for 10 weeks! Boo for sleepy bowels – once I got stuck in the bathroom for 30 minutes AFTER my lunch break at work. No one knew I was pg, but I had to tell them after that little incident. And I stopped going out soon after I got pregnant. Not being able to drink just made me feel left out and cranky so I just stayed home. That way I didn't see what I was missing and hearing about it wasn't as hard.

  10. Love your update!! Congrats on 10 weeks πŸ™‚

  11. So happy you are having a day of relief! You look so dang cute πŸ™‚

  12. Yay for good news! Hopefully you start feeling better soon!

  13. so glad about a puke-free day. hopefully many more of those to come in the not-distant future.i also can't wait to see that belly grow! You said no genetic testing – are you including the level II u/s at 18-ish weeks in that?

  14. How very exciting! Glad you had a better day with the puking.

  15. What a cutie little gummy worm! Congrats on 10! πŸ™‚

  16. I remember reading that 9 weeks can be the worst for the nausea, so hopefully you're over the hump. Yes, you will feel like eating anything again, and yes, you will feel like having sex again! I had all kinds of crazy sex dreams during the second tri–sorry if that's TMI. And tell your hubby this is a warm-up for the post-partum drought :). Oh, and stool softeners are a wonderful invention!Congrats on seeing the adorable little bean! It makes the nausea worth it. We also refused all the testing–and the eye goop. The less unnecessary interference, the better, I think.

  17. you look adorable!! glad to hear that today was a little bit easier as far as puking :)your midwives sound awesome!! that is fantastic that they'll do u/s for free!!Dude, it'll be June in a few days and December will be here before you know it πŸ™‚

  18. You look great!!I hope this is the end of the puking!!!!And what a cute baby!

  19. Yeah I'm glad to hear the appt went great and that's awsome they did a free sonogram. I hope the sickness stays away this weekend and you start to feel better πŸ™‚

  20. You look great!! I hope you have broken the puking streak too…Happy 10 weeks!

  21. OMG I totally missed your pregnancy announcement! Congratulations! AND I had severe morning sickness in the 1st tri, was on zofran (which worked great!) BUT also caused the GI issues. Ugh. It was so bad…seriously go get some colace. Congrats again!!!

  22. I opted to do the same thing in regards to the eye goo. I got to "swipe" myself even, which was hilarious. Big pregnant me squatting to try to get my arm around the back side so I could swab front to back. hahaha. Still cracks me up to think of it.

  23. Oh my gosh – I haven't checked blogs for about 3 months. I'm so excited to come back and see this news. Congratulations! Very exciting! Keep me posted, but in the meantime I'll be praying for you!
