Words of Wisdom from a Classy Lady

My Great-Aunt (the sister of my mother’s father) is an absolutely amazing lady. Even though we lived a couple of hours away from her when we were growing up, she has always been involved in our lives, and when I went away to college my freshman year, she started sending me letters…great, old-fashioned, typed on her ancient typewriter letters. Good stuff. I can safely say that she is the only person I have successfully had a pen-pal relationship with. 🙂

She is one of those people who has squirreled away random items for years, and now, instead of letting everything gather dust in a box for someone else to deal with someday, she is slowly redistributing them to younger family members to help keep history alive. She has sent me everything from a hang-crocheted quilt my grandmother had made for her in the 70s, to a family Christmas card of myself and my siblings from the early 90s. Complete random awesomeness in the mail, let me tell ya!

Another pretty cool thing about my Great-Aunt is that she is turning 90 on December 22nd (my EDD!). I couldn’t think of a better person to have RockStar share his/her possible birthday with.

When I called to tell her I was pregnant (I had told my Grandpa early on and sworn him to secrecy, but I knew darn well he had immediately called his sister to tell her *LOL*), she was so excited for us, and said the following to me:

A child of my child is twice my child.
Greek Proverb

How wonderful is that proverb?! I like it. 🙂
