Vacuuming Schmaccuming

Please tell me I’m not the only one…

I don’t like vacuuming. I just don’t. I love a good, clean floor – especially one free of our dog’s hair, but it is just so low on my priority list. So low.

For example, on Friday I vacuumed our upstairs (master bedroom & loft/baby room area). The only reason I did this, you ask? Freshly cleaned laundry needed to be folded, and I didn’t want to worry about keeping clean clothes and linens off the floor while I was folding.

This morning, I vacuumed our downstairs living room area. The only reason I did this, you ask? I wanted to try out a new yoga DVD, and the carpet was so full of dog hair that I could not make myself come that close to it in a downward dog.
The downstairs bedroom (guest room) also has the door closed at all times – just to keep the dog hair out and my need to vacuum down.

Sometimes I suck at the whole Suzy Homemaker thing. Oops.

  1. LOL, you're not alone. I find it sooo annoying. Especially when you have to cover two floors, the stairs included. Just the worst…

  2. I hate it too! And we have a big rug in our living room that is really hard to vacuum a certain way. I tried over the weekend and it was actually pretty uncomfortable – you don't realize how much you use your stomach muscles to push it. Maybe I just might get out of vacuuming for the next month. 🙂 I'm having a cleaning service come out in a few weeks anyway – might be something for you to check into also.

  3. I so hate vacuuming too! Luckily, that was one of the chores my husband inherited. 😉

  4. Vacuuming is my all time most hated chore. Luckily my husband does most of the vacuuming around our house. I've told him if he buys me a Dyson, I'll be happy to vacuum! We'll see what Santa brings this year…

  5. Whatever gets the job done, sounds like your doing it frequently! We just put in our hardwood floors and I have to sweep 2x per week to keep the cat hair and "tumbleweeds" down. Let me know when the whole nesting thing kicks in! How was pregnant yoga?

  6. You are not alone, I HATE vacuuming! I put it off as long as I possibly can 🙂

  7. for sure NOT alone..I also loathe doing the dishes…yuck!

  8. I LOVE vacuuming! It's so much more satisfying than the stupidist chore of all: pushing dirt around and kicking up dust – I mean sweeping. UGH don't even get me started on sweeping! Is the yoga DVD a prenatal one? I bought one when I was pregnant and got so freaked out by how huge the 3rd trimester girl was that I had to stop it midway and didn't ever touch it again! 🙂

  9. I hate vacuuming too, but I can't put it off too long due to the 5 dogs. However, my husband loves to vacuum so at least I don't have to do it every time.

  10. I actually do like to vacuum, but we only have about 800 square feet of carpet. The rest of our house is hard surfaces…..and I hate mopping :(.

  11. I don't mind vacuuming. I do hate vacuuming the stairs. I am lucky that I married a man who loves to vacuum and will vacuum the living room five times in a row just to make sure they are clean. I hate laundry, just the folding and hanging part. I am notorious for having baskets and baskets of clean clothes just sitting in our laundry room.

  12. I am right there with you on not always being the best Suzy Homemaker type. Except, I looove to vacuum. Actually, vacuuming and ironing are the only two house chores I like. I despise mopping!!!

  13. Seriously, get a Roomba. Best $250 I ever spent. I cannot recommend it enough. All you have to do is tidy, push a button, and walk away!

  14. I pretty much hate vacuuming with a passion. Yes, I love the clean-ness of the carpet, but our vacuum is like 3,583 pounds. So it sucks pushing it around. No pun intended 🙂

  15. Do I have to pick just one household chore to despise? I really, really, REALLY hate them all! The only time our house gets vacuumed is when my husband breaks down and does it. Don't ask about dusting!

  16. I got a Roomba so that I wouldn't have to vacuum very often. We steam clean periodically, but the Roomba is great. I think I'm going to get one of the fancier ones that goes back to its charging station soon.

  17. I hate vacuuming too. At the beginning when my RE said that I didnt even need to vacuum because of the strain, I have not. I know he we being extreme, but oh well. Needless to say, my husband finally decided we need to put hardwood throuhgout the house before babies are here. I wonder if its because he has been having to do the vacuuming…haha.
