Weekly Wednesday Weigh-In: 8 Weeks Postpartum

Starting Weight 38w pregnant: 186# / 6wk pp: 161#
Last Week’s Weight: 163#
Current Weight: 159#

Starting BMI: 24.5
Last Week’s BMI: 24.8
Current BMI: 24.2

1. Reiterate my goal and where I stand in reference to this goal:

I’m 5’8″ and have a goal weight of 142# (BMI of 21.6), so I have 19# to go.

My scale sucks and gives me a different number every time I stand on it, so I chose 159# as the middle ground of the numbers that showed up today. 155-160 all showed up, but right around 159 most often. How annoying. I think that must have affected my number from last week too, because there is no way I’m down 4# this week, but down 2# over 2 weeks sounds about right.

2. Discuss what I am going to do to achieve my goals:

Progress on last week’s activities:

Eat a salad for lunch every day and track my calories consumed – Done & Done!
Do the elliptical 3x. – Yep!
Do special ab exercises 3x to help with the diastasis recti I have going on. – 1x

I also drank lots of water and took 3 walks with Stella+stroller+dog – two 1 milers and one 1.5 miler.

Overall I’m very happy with myself this week. On average, I was 160 calories under my goal each day (MFP automatically shifts your cal requirements based on your exercise level each day). I didn’t mean to do that, but I have it set to “maintain weight” (figuring if I hit that goal, I’ll actually lose weight since breastfeeding burns 300-500 cal/day) and for me, that’s 1,880 cal/day without exercise. When I’m actually doing the elliptical and walks, that number goes up, and I’m just not used to eating over 2k cals/day.

Activities & goals for this coming week:
Eat a salad for lunch every day again. I feel so much better when I do that!
Do the elliptical 3x.
Make learning some postpartum ab exercises a priority…that area NEEDS some work!

I accepted the job yesterday, and I start this Friday, so we’ll see how that affects my eating/exercise goals. Wish me luck!

On-going Life Style Goals:
Drink 8oz every time I sit down to nurse Stella or pump (drinking roughly 100oz water/day).
Walk the 1 mile to the post office with Stella in her stroller at least 2x/week.

3. Post a (reasonably healthy) recipe that I’ve tried, a cooking tip, a new idea for working out for people to try, a photo update of my weight loss, or anything else I feel like sharing.
