Stella Times…Week 8

My Beautiful Baby…

Talk talk talk…you LOVE to talk lately, and I love it! You’re just like Momma. 🙂
BTW – The blanket you’re on was Granny Annie’s and your Daddy brought it back from STL for you!

Lately I call you “baby” or “Bells” (as in Stells Bells) almost as much as I call you Stella. It’s amazing to me how much I love to baby talk with you. I still can’t stand when people use made up words, but I definitely talk to you in the classic sing-song voice that parents are known for, because gosh darn it, it works, and it gets the biggest smiles from you! I love it. 🙂

You are the happiest baby in the world first thing the morning and last thing at night, though we are being blessed with more and more smiles at any moment throughout the day.

You’re loving lights and sounds on your bouncy chairs lately too!

You still LOVE water, be it a bath or in a shower with me. When we’re running out of time to get ready for something, I’ll set you on your towel on the floor outside the shower and turn on the water, and you immediately calm down and start smiling. I’ll jump in and shampoo/conditioner, then I’ll lean out and grab you and bring you in with me. The look on your face is just priceless – you love it so much!! I’ll keep you snuggled up against my chest while the water beats on your back and I wash your backside, then I’ll hold you in a cradle breastfeeding position while I wash your hair and front side. A little water will sometimes spray in your face, but not much, and you are just happy as a clam the entire time! Other days we’ll have time for longer baths though, and those are great in your world as well. 🙂

You’re finally starting to get little rolls on your legs!!

Daddy is definitely one of your favorite people in the world. When he comes home at night and I can’t settle you down, he’ll cuddle you up close to him in the recliner and sing the first verse of This Land is Your Land over and over, and you adore it! Inevitably you’ll fall asleep and give me time to make dinner and catch up on things around the house, and your Daddy loves that cuddle time with you.

We took a picture this week of you and Daddy in your matching shirts too! One of Daddy’s good friends runs the organic apparel company, and he has given you a newborn t-shirt and a bigger onesie from their Little Sprout line. You are just too cute. 🙂

You stick out your tongue non-stop lately too. LOL

This week we completed your four week infant massage class. You have had more full body massages in your little life than I’ve had in the past year! It was really cool stuff to learn, and you Daddy and I love knowing how to make you feel a little better if you have gas and how to get calm, content smiles and coos out of you.

I tried my first grocery store trip with you in the moby wrap this week, and it went pretty well!! You love being all snuggled up to me, and after the first couple of minutes, you just slept away while I shopped. It was so nice to not have your carseat taking up grocery cart room, plus I love every minute of snuggle time I can get with you.

The last big change this week was that I finally took the time to set up the 2nd swing up in our bedroom upstairs. As much as it pains me to leave you (and believe me, I expect a lot of tears from ME, not you!), Mommy has to start a new job tomorrow, and I needed a way to keep you happy and content and near me while I got ready in the mornings. You’ll be going to daycare for 4 days a week in the beginning, but hopefully soon you’ll be with your Nana one of those days and your Auntie J one of those days, so you’ll only be at daycare two days a week and with ME the other three. I am going to miss you so, so much little one.

I love you to the moon and back, always and forever.

Momma

  4. It's going to get better every day once you're back to work…remember that. She's going to do great! The only problem is going to be breaking it to Char that he no longer gets his evening snuggle time with her because you'll be hogging her all the time. 🙂

  5. Such a sweet picture with Charlie. I miss those tiny baby days so much sometimes!!!I hope your first day at your new job flies by. I promise your time with her will be even more full and special once you aren't counting down the minutes until nap and bedtime. 🙂 I'll be thinking about you!

  6. I adore the picture of Stella in her bouncy chair. And I too have a swing in my wardrobe room. Taylor hangs out with me in the morning while I get dressed. She laughs when I dance in my undies around her. I promised her I won't always jiggle so much. 🙂
