As you read this, we are in MN for Stella’s baptism! I was raised ELCA Lutheran, a faith which believes in infant baptism followed by elective confirmation as a young adult when you want to reaffirm your faith. Her baptism is happening in my hometown church where my parents and much of my extended family still attend church every Sunday. The caption to the picture was written by my Mom when she posted this picture on FB. So cool. 🙂
The baptism gown, soon to be worn by darling Stella, made 116 years ago by Stella’s great-great-great-Grandmother, Ellen. Stella will be the 41st child baptized in this gown. Aunt Elie says we are giving tribute to Grandma Ellen by using and cherishing her work. Grandma Ellen, our daughter Emma (who will be a Godmother to Stella), and Stella were all born on December 8th. 1869 – 1988 – 2011. The circle of life. 🙂
That's amazing! How awesome to be able to pass something on like that to so many people!
That's amazing they were all born on the same day. The circle of life indeed. I know it will be a very touching and beautiful baptism.
Gorgeous photo. And just WOW! What an awesome family tradition.
Wow, that's really cool!
I hope you take tons of pictures…..I love the tradition too. Raegan was baptized wearing the same gown everyone on my family has worn, but it's not quite as old as Stella's. What a wonderful way to contribute to tradition by having your daughter wear the treasured heirloom.Congratulations and many blessings to Stella and your family.
That's incredible! I love reading abt these kinds of family traditions!!!
