10 Freakin’ Hours!

When I went in to get Stella this morning at 7:30am, she had scooted herself so far down on her swing that her legs below the knees were hanging off. Mind you – she had been sleeping in that swing for 10 HOURS STRAIGHT at that point, so she had plenty of time to wiggle her way down throughout the night.

Did you read what I just wrote? 10 FREAKIN’ HOURS.

I really should have taken a picture of her this morning, but I was in such awe that I totally forgot.

Her normal m.o. is to wake up every 2-4 hours to eat. Wednesday night was a record at 6.5hrs before she woke up to eat, and then last night she slept for 10hrs (2x she fussed just for a minute and went right back to sleep).

You think I’d have gotten an amazing night of sleep, but no, from 1:30am and onward, I was checking on her every hour anyway trying to figure out why she was still sleeping!

Kids. You worry about them even when they’re doing something you want them to do. 🙂

  1. Wow! That's a great snooze!!!

  2. Ahhhhh! Hopefully she will start sleeping that much from now on! I freaked out the first time Aiden has his long stretch too, I was sure he was dead! Lol Enjoy your Easter!

  3. YAY! go stella! i barely slept the first time mack slept through the night, too. oh, the irony! congrats on having such a great sleeper! hopefully, you'll be able to sleep as long as she does next time. 🙂

  4. Yay!

  5. Geesh, lucky you!

  6. Ha! Leah slept nine straight hours last night and I woke up in a startle at 3am thinking she'd wake up ANY second. I finally fell back asleep around 4:30 then she got up at 6. She's usually up every 2-4 hours as well. 🙂 Here's to nine or ten hours someday being the norm!

  7. Go Stella! When Ellen sleeps long stretches like that I still have a hard time sleeping through the night myself! You get so used to getting up, that it's hard to train your body to sleep normally again.

  8. Fantastic news! I have a question for you: when she does sleep longer stretches do you pump? I always feel engorged when my LO sleeps longer than 3 hours, but she goes 5 or 6 hours sometimes.

  9. On the 10 hr night, I finally got up at 5am and pumped (8hrs since the start of her last feeding) and I pumped 12oz. Ouch. When she sleeps 4-6 hrs, I try to wait it out, just because I'd hate to pump and have her wake up to eat right after. However, I'm not worried about my supply right now. If I was, I'd get up to pump at 3-4 hrs anyway just to keep that up.

  11. The first time that happened, I woke up to him crying and had a weird, "where am I?" sensation. Hope she keeps it up!

  12. Woohoo! Gotta love nights when they figure it out and sleep longer than normal. Sorry you didn't get to enjoy it by sleeping through too, but I think that's just par for the course.

  13. Whoo hoo, I hope there is a habit forming!
