Weekly Wednesday Weigh-In: 34 Weeks Postpartum

When does the “baby weight” become just “extra weight?” Hmm…

Starting Weight: 6wk pp: 161# (at BFP weight)
Last Week’s Weight: 159# (3 wks ago)
Current Weight: ?

Starting BMI: 24.5
Last Week’s BMI: 24.2
Current BMI: ?

1. Reiterate my goal and where I stand in reference to this goal:

I’m 5’8″ and have a goal weight of 142# (BMI of 21.6) or a Size 8, whichever happens first, so I have roughly 17# to go.

Okay, I still didn’t buy a new scale, and I’m writing this the night before b/c I’m leaving at 4am Wednesday for the airport, but this was a pretty good week for me, so I’m feeling good. I’ll be in MN for the entire next week (Wed-Wed), so it might be two weeks before I do another check-in. My goal is to enjoy vacation but not overdo it too much with food and drink (at least not every night!). I made myself pack my tennis shoes too so that I have no excuse not to get some exercise while I’m there!

2. Discuss what I am going to do to achieve my goals:

Progress on last week’s activities:

*Move my body every day. – 6/7 – Not perfect, but much better than last week!
*NO chocolate for snacks unless I have already exercised that day. Close. Only had 1 chocolate on Monday when I didn’t end up exercising.
*Only have drinks 4 nights of 7. – Did it! It seriously took me self control to not crack a couple beers at the BBQ we went to on Sunday, but I did it. *grumble grumble* 😉 — Okay, I wrote this on Monday night…on Tuesday I came home from a horrid day at work, and my husband greeted me at the door with a 24oz Budweiser. Who am I to resist that? LOL. #BadInfluencesAllOver

Activities & goals for this coming week:
*Enjoy vacation without binge eating (unless it’s my Mom’s homemade bread).
*Move my body every day.
*Bring healthy snacks for travel days (Wed & Wed we are flying, Saturday we are doing lots of driving).

On-going Life Style Goals:
Drink 8oz every time I sit down to nurse Stella or pump (drinking roughly 100oz water/day). – I bought a huge new water bottle that is helping with this!
Walk places instead of drive when possible. – DONE! I’ve been doing great at this!

3. Post a (reasonably healthy) recipe that I’ve tried, a cooking tip, a new idea for working out for people to try, a photo update of my weight loss, or anything else I feel like sharing.

I really liked this post by Sundry last week. This is where I’d like to get to with my fitness goals…

I joined a gym here, and sometimes I go to this class that’s sort of a combo of step and weightlifting, and the room is full of older ladies who crack jokes and bullshit with the instructor, and it’s super low-key and no-pressure and I like it. When the weather’s nice, I ride my bike, or go running, or walk the neighborhood. Sometimes I throw on a DVD and jump around the living room. I don’t spend my entire day thinking about my workout, I just … do stuff, or don’t, and it’s not a huge deal.
I don’t mean to imply I’ve matured beyond feeling hateful towards my belly roll or wobbly upper thighs, mind you. I feel wildly uncomfortable when I put on a few pounds, which is usually what prompts me to stop mainlining Cheetos. But fitness just feels like something I do, now. It’s not something I have to life-coach myself into on a weekly basis. It’s not taking up nearly as much headspace as it used to.

  1. Have a great vacation! We are leaving for vacation today too. It is so hard to eat well while on vacation. You feel like it's ok to enjoy since it's vacation after all!

  2. Enjoy your vacation! You will probably do lots of walking around so you can enjoy more food without worry. 🙂

  3. Sounds like you did really well this week! Have such a great vacation and good luck with the eating… I know how hard it can be! Have fun, that is the main thing! 😉

  4. Have a great vacation! That 24 sounds delicious! I wouldn't have said no to that either 🙂

  5. I've been thinking this for a while, and some of it stems from some discussions we've had on the HA thread at fertilethoughts… I actually think you look fabulous just as you are. I'm guessing Charlie does too – hot, curvy, and sexy. You're not at an unhealthy weight – it seems like you can maintain where you are pretty easily, and enjoy your life, but to lose much more weight is going to take a lot of work, and really, to what end? Who are you trying to do this for? I think that the media has pushed this ideal of the skinny woman on us as beautiful – but really, I think that womenly women are much more attractive to everyone. And with that being said, i think you should probably take me off the list – I have been intending to post for the last five weeks and haven't managed yet! xo
