Stella Times…37 Weeks

Stelly Belly,

Every week you are suddenly getting stronger and faster, and your crawling has quickly morphed into pulling yourself up to standing up at all times, whenever you possibly can. Thankfully you figured out how to sit yourself back down this week as well, because it was getting old having to “rescue” you every time you were ready to move onto something else. 🙂

We had a big weekend here at the house, because Daddy has been working on your new room! (Honestly, it’s just your old room with an upgrade.) Having your nursery be in the loft outside of our bedroom worked out great at first, but now you need more peace and quiet to sleep, so while we were in MN a couple of weeks ago, Daddy framed out the banister and built an entire wall with a pocket door. Last Saturday, we got everything prepped for the next step, and while we did that, we had you barricaded into a corner of your room. You didn’t seem to mind!

Once he was ready to texture and get the first coat of paint on, you and I took a couple hour walk around town to get you out in the fresh air and away from the fumes. Here’s a sneak peak of what the wall is going to look like. Did you know that Mommy’s favorite color is pink and Daddy’s favorite color is orange? We’re not afraid to paint with those colors either. 🙂

While we were out and about, we came across a yard sale, and you are pretty darn stoked with my $5 find. You bang on that thing and make it light up and play music to your heart’s content. It’s pretty cute.
All week we have watched you explore this new world that you suddenly have way more access to. It’s pretty cool, but it makes me a bit nostalgic for my baby. Where did you go?! You are definitely not a baby anymore.

I love you Stella,
Mommy

  1. What a great deal on her toy! Her room is going to look awesome!

  2. Can’t wait to see the finished room! That pink looked WAAAAAY brighter on Instagram! Glad you guys are so bold with colour. BJB’s favourite colour is beige, and mine is grey… yeah.

Love the activity table! A little jealous of it actually 🙂 And I LOVE that it looks like she is trying to catch and eat the watermark in the first picture.

    1. Lol, and I actually tried to pick an Instagram action that wouldn’t alter the color too much! The color is perfect IRL. Probably a little darker even than it appears here – bright enough to reflect daylight, but dark enough to be calming for sleep when the blackout shades are closed.

Our old house was all white, beige and light blue (not our choices) , so we were ready for color when we bought this house! We have a lot of grey, but with accent walls of color, which we totally love!

This is my first experimentation with watermarks. We shall see….

  3. I love orange (it’s my fave!) – but am afraid to paint with it! Those renovations are awesome! How nice that Charlie can do that on his own! B is good at house projects, but framing is something he won’t attempt. Not sure if he’s scared of my rage if he messes it up!

Those activity tables are nice! We got ours from a friend who handed it down. $5 is a great price – they cost $40 new!

    1. My best advice is to just try it!! Paint is easy to change if you hate it. When we bought the house, we painted our room a dark blue…and it turned out bright as shit crayola blue. That sucked, but it took one day and about $50 of killz and new paint to correct. No biggie. 🙂 The orange color we used is “kumquat” – and both our stairwell and our guest bedroom are that color, and we have fallen in love with it! http://scovfam.blogspot.com/2011/10/beginning-of-nesting.html

Char had better be good at framing since he has been a framer for the past 10 years of his life!! 🙂 He just recently switched to concrete, but he really is good at anything like that.

  4. She’s adorable!!!! I love the bubble butt in the last pic hehe

Can’t wait to see what the room looks like in the end 🙂

  5. I paid $40 for that EXACT toy. Yeah. You rock.

    Happy 37 weeks, Miss Stells.

  6. Alidia just got that same toy (for way more money… booo… so jealous of your $5 find) and she loves it so much!! She isn’t standing very well yet but it definitely helps or we’ll take it off the legs for her to play with it on her tummy. Loads of fun. Love Stella’s new room upgrade and the colour combo. It looks great!!

  7. I love a husband that can do handy things! Such a good man. And that pink and orange wall looks like rainbow sherbert, beautiful. And you’re adding value to your house by making another room. 🙂 She is sure cute looking all like a little girl and not a baby.

  8. LOVE the pink!! Haha, that activity table is the same one we have, when I wrote about one of the activities sounding like they say “butthole” in Spanish…but it’s been replaced by that purple xylophone! Guess you’ll just have to take my word for it that that’s what it sounds like they are saying. 🙂

  9. I’m loving her new room and can’t wait to see it all finished!!

I’m hoping for a cloth diaper update! How are things going? Are the bum genius elementals holding up? I’ve read quite a few reviews complaining of getting holes in the liner and I wanted to see if you experienced this. I’m expecting and trying to decide which type of cloth diapers to buy!

    1. Good idea! I’ll try to get a post up in the next couple of weeks. The long and short of it – we have had ZERO problems with them. ZERO holes. ZERO leaks and tears. ZERO snaps fall off. Not bad for daily use for 8 months! We have 15 diapers, so every diaper basically gets used within a 2-3 day period, so that means each diaper has been worn and washed at least 100-125 times! I’ll go into more detail in the post, but yes, I 100% would recommend them to people. We have the Bum Genius Elemental AIOs with snaps.

OK, it took me this long to make a new WP account 🙂 I just had to say I can’t believe she’s old enough to play with that stand-up play table already! It goes by so fast!!!

    1. YAY! I’m glad you took the time to do it. 🙂
