1st Rodeo and 1st Overnight

A couple of weeks ago, Charlie told his Mom that she was going to get to watch Stella overnight tonight for the first time ever.

I proceeded to freak out (quietly, in my head), and  because I didn’t want to be “that” daughter-in-law that rescinded the offer, I said nothing out loud.

The saving grace? It’s rodeo weekend in our small Colorado town this weekend, and the local dance with a live band (which is 6 blocks from our house) is tonight. A couple of weeks ago, we bid on admittance for two and all you can drink for at the local fire department fundraiser, and we won it for $50.

SO for $50, we are going to drink and dance, and I am going to do my darndest to not cry my eyes out when I get home and my baby isn’t here.

Wish me luck.

Have so much fun tonight! Stella will be great, and you deserve a night off. Adorable pic!

  2. You’ll have so much fun! I totally understand feeling sad when your baby isn’t home with you (I bawled my EYES out in the hospital when the girls took 20 minutes longer than planned coming back from the nursery, ugh!) but just focus on how much of a nice experience it will be for her to spend time with her grandparents and how delighted they’ll be to have the morning with her. Thinking about her being happy might help! And, of course, you can catch up on some sleep once you get home, which will help you be a more effective and well-rested mom for Stella the next day 🙂 HAVE FUN! Come back and tell me all about what having grown-up fun is like! I forget 😉

    1. We slept in until 9am!! Stella slept great for her grandparents too – up once at midnight, and then slept through until 7:30am.

I am sure you are having a wonderful time! Drink your sadness away! I am sure all three of you will have a wonderful time. I have only left Savannah when I was in the hospital after Shane was born. It was only for 1 night and my husband was slept home to be with her. We kick ourselves sometimes that we never had her sleep away from home without us before. We should give it a try sometime.

  4. She will be fine and you are going to have a FANTASTIC time 🙂

I left Lil K when she was 5 months for an overnighter (with my husband mind you) but they both survived and it made me feel so good knowing that if ever you need a sitter overnight she’s going to be okay!

  5. You will have so much fun! And this made me chuckle, we just had Nora’s first overnight and she just turned three! We were at a wedding and everyone made fun of us…and on the way home I tried to convince my husband to drop me at my moms! He said no! 🙂

  6. No over nights here, but my husband did go to a family function without me and he took Raegan with him…Now I’m home from my outing and he’s not…where is my baby!?!?! I feel your pain…you’re much more brave than I, but I know you’re having a fabulous time with Charlie and you two deserve some special “us” time….Drink and dance it up!

  7. Awww, I hope you guys have tons of fun.

  8. That sounds like so much fun!!!!

  9. I hope that you’re having a blast! And that you come home too tired from dancing to focus too much on sadness. And just think about how great it will be to pick her up in the morning!

  10. I hope you guys are having a kick ass night!! I left C alone with my dh & E when she was 10 months old or so. With E it wasn’t until she was almost 2 but that’s because we lived in MN. Enjoy your night! SHe will be fine and loved on, no worries 🙂

  11. You will have to let us know how it went! I hope you were able to cut loose for a little while

  12. How did it go? We have not left Matthew overnight yet… and I’m the main reason. HA!

I hope you had a super good time! It really sounds like you guys take in every opportunity to have fun as a couple. That is so great!

    1. It was great!! 18 hours without my baby = crazy. But it was a good time. I got seriously drunk (ouch) and a good time was had by all. 🙂

      1. So I told B that I’m jealous of you and Charlie because you’re always doing something fun, and his response was, “Of course they are, they live in Colorado!” We want to move there so badly, and almost did but then he got his current job that he loves. Sigh.

Keep having fun, you two! We’re living viariously through you 😉

      2. Ya, I came here on vacation 8 years ago after college and never left! It’s a pretty great place to live.

  13. Have a blast tonight!! This is good for you and C and good for Stella. She gets to spend time with her Grandma. And Grandmas are FUN!
