100 Day Challenge #2 – 25 Day Check-In

50/100 drinks (50%), 3,600/15,000 sit-ups (24%)

So…yeah. I’m pretty sure I underestimated how much I drank this past summer, because I know I’ve cut back, and I’m still at double my goal. Oops. Though, I guess if I was estimating 3 drinks a day, I’ve consumed at least 25 drinks less in the past month than I would have without this challenge… so that’s something at least!  It’s interesting to me to write it all out like this, because I honestly don’t drink more (or less!) than most anyone in our group of friends here. Granted there aren’t many kids in our group yet, so I’m sure that’s part of it, but we really are a bunch of social drinkers. I guess I’ve just never forced myself to acknowledge how much those after-work drinks / weekend BBQ drinks add up though. *sigh*

At any rate, I’m STOKED about my progress with the ab challenge, especially since that’s the exercise I’ve always failed at keeping up with in the past. I’m right on track with that, and I even added in a fusion hot yoga class on Monday — OH how I have missed that class. I’m hoping to make that a weekly thing now, so between the yoga toning, the ab exercises, and fewer drinks, I’m hoping that I will be a happier, slimmer Josey come New Years Eve. 🙂

  1. Great job Jos!!!

  2. Way to go! I am terrible at ab exercises as well….definitely need to add some in to my routine…sigh.

  3. Kicking it!

    1. If by kicking it you mean chugging it – then yes, yes, I’m kicking it. 🙂

      1. I just find you reassuring as I myself am partial to the odd drop or two and sometimes you feel like such a boozer when everyone else is like oh no no no I couldn’t possibly have a drink. I went into work yesterday (I work in a winery) and grabbed a couple of bottles to take home with me. I figured I really missed out when pregnant!

  4. Way to go!! 🙂 You are inspiring!

  5. You’re doing great!!! I’m so impressed with the ab exercises – way to go!!!

You are doing awesome! Good for you!

  7. I have a question and please don’t take it offensively I just always read your blog and am curious. It seems you drink quite regularly and I know you breast feed Stella. Do you ‘pump and dump’ or just breast feed regular?? I am by no means judging or accusing, just a question!!

    1. Lol, no offense taken. It’s a good question! It depends on what I’m drinking, how fast I’m drinking, and if I’m eating at the same time. If I have a light beer while cooking and another one while eating, by the time I nurse Stella before bed ive have 2 drinks + dinner in 2.5 hrs, and I’m comfortable nursing her at that point. If I drink more than that, it’s usually after she’s in bed, and since she sleeps through the night, my body has until 7am the next day to process the alcohol. I have pump & dumped a couple of times, but i hate doing that, so I usually try to time it so that I’m only having drinks when she will be asleep for the night. Thankfully I have pumped almost every morning since she was 4w old, and I have 300+ oz in my freezer stash to pull from if I’ve ever drank more than I’m comfortable with nursing after.

      1. Ohh ok! Ive just always been curious! I’m not a drinker (unless I go out with friends, which is a rare occasion for this mama ;)) so I’ve never really crossed that bridge.

      2. Thanks for answering and not being offended 🙂

      3. Yep, no problem! We don’t actually go out all the often (maybe 2x/month?), and usually it’s either me OR my husband that goes out. If we both go out drinking, obviously Stella goes to her grandparent’s house for the night. She’s done that 3x in her life, so definitely not very often! However, we do get together with friends quite often. We live in a tiny town (pop. < 1000 ppl), so most everyone lives within easy walking distance. We just put Stella in the stroller and some beers in the little cooler underneath and walk over to friend's houses for BBQs all the time.

  8. Hot yoga is one of my favorite things in life. So invigorating. Glad to hear the sit up challenge is going well! You should surely see results soon! 🙂 My group of friends are definitely social drinkers too! We always comment that we dont think other groups drink as much, but we sure have a lot if fun! 🙂 And most of us met long ago in church/ sunday school lol.

    Keep up the good work!!

    1. Yep – it just occurred to me that I was doing hot yoga consistently last time I felt really good about myself, so it’s definitely time to get back into it! I’m not as worried about my milk supply anymore, so I think I’m going to count calories and add in the yoga practice to my normal walking and ab work and see if that helps make a difference.

Glad to hear we’re not the only group of friends that are social drinkers. 😉 Our group is comprised of mostly 25-35 year olds, and there are only a couple of kids in the group, so most activities are centered around rafting, hiking, skiing, and BBQs…all of which involve drinking for us! It doesn’t mean we’re getting smashed every day, but drinking a cold beer at the top of a mountain is pretty awesome. 🙂

  9. You are doing so well with your ab exercises!!! 🙂 And hey, not too shabby with the drinks either! 😉 Believe me, I know how hard it is too. We are social drinkers and afternoon/evening at home drinkers and it just adds up. Before Alidia I was an average of 2 – 3 a day kind of gal. Now with Alidia I am probably averaging 1 a day which is more often 0 or 2 with 2 as my limit when breastfeeding… although after Alidia is in bed, that rule goes out the window and a few more can be consumed but I am usually in bed not long after! 😉 The odd thing is I am so much fussier about my drinks now which has definitely helped me cut down, although not on purpose. Beer, wine, no thanks… cocktails, yes please! But soo much more work to make!! And I really didn’t used to be that ‘fancy’ of a gal! Odd. Anyway, this comment has no real purpose other than that I too love an icy cold drink or two at the end of the day and can relate to this challenge and know it isn’t as easy as it might seem to other non-drinkers. Good luck with the final 3/4!!! 🙂

    1. Ha – thanks Fiona! We would totally get along IRL. 🙂 I still look at plane tix here and there to see if we could make it happen. Your pool + a tasty drink = awesomesauce!

I’m glad you get that for people who are used to having a couple a day, it really is hard to cut down – not b/c I crave the alcohol, but b/c I LIKE the cold beer or the tequila and grapefruit juice at the end of the day. Mmmmm…. 🙂

  10. Good job on making it 1/4 of the way through and doing so well. I’m impressed with your ab exercises and am sure you’ll be noticing big improvements soon!! With the drinks… yeah, that’s tough. It’s the weekday drinks that are surely doing you in (numbers-wise only) because they’re as much habit as anything else. I used to have a beer or a glass of wine most evenings but when I was pregnant Stan also cut that out and we just never got back into it. So now it’s pretty much only an occasional beer with lunch (it’s Spain!) and then drinks on the weekend!

  11. I hate abs too, I finally started doing them. I just feel like I don’t have any! I finally had a bunch of beers the other night, I thought I could drink like I use to so, boy was I wrong!
