The Monday Snapshot – Owie Edition

On Friday I got home from work around 6pm, and my husband and SIL (who had watched Stella that day) were in the kitchen chatting while Stells crawled around on the floor. A little bit later, I was holding Stella and noticed a mark on her arm. It kind of looked like a burn, but I asked SIL and she said she didn’t know anything about it. Long story short, a couple of hours later the mark was looking worse, and we figured out that when SIL had been getting ready for her date that night, Stella had pulled on the cord of the curling iron. SIL thought that she had grabbed it before it touched her, but obviously not. *sigh* Poor baby. It doesn’t seem to be bothering her at all, but I sure feel bad for her. She’s too young to be getting curling iron burns already!

  1. Awww! Poor thing! So glad she’s not making a fuss about it though! And surprising too! As those bloody hurt! (I’ve had too many of those! LOL!)

  2. Oh no! Poor baby! Rite of passage I suppose… :p

  3. Oh – that poor thing. Burns hurt like crazy. She must have super hero pain tolerance. Go Stella!

Ouch!!!! And how does anyone date in your teeny town? Don’t you all know each other already?

That’s sounding a lot meaner than I meant it to. It’s just that I live in a relatively normal size city, and people complain about thr dying pool being too small.

      1. Bwahaha – no, you’re totally right. People often say, “you don’t lose your girlfriend, you lose your turn.” … which is sick, and slightly true. People also talk about “importing” significant others. 🙂 The guy my SIL is going on a date with has been in town for the past few months working on a gov’t job, so he’s not from here. IMPORT!

  5. Awww…poor thing! Hopefully it heals quickly.

  6. Aloe Vera so that it doesn’t blister and scar! Even if it doesn’t seem like it hurts her, I would still put some on her throughout the next day or two.

    1. Definitely. I unfortunately killed my aloe vera plant though. 🙁 Time to go get some.

  7. Poor baby, that must have hurt!
    Her dress is adorable though.

    1. Thanks! It was a gift from my mom to her, and it’s my little brother’s favorite, which makes me smile every time I put it on her. 🙂

  8. Oh noooooooooooes! Poor Stella! 🙁

  9. I can’t believe she didn’t cry when it touched her! That happened to me as a kid, but I grabbed the thing like it was nobody’s business and have a nice scar on my hand. Glad it doesn’t seem to be bothering her.

    1. Well, apparently she DID cry when it touched her, but my SIL thought it was because she took the cord away and my husband didn’t check either. *FacePalm* Hasn’t bothered her since then though.

  10. OUCH!!! the good thing is it’s on her arm…I used to burn my neck with the curling iron and people always assumed it was some sort of a hickey…that would be hard to explain on an 11 month old 😛

    She’s a trooper…and I agree, aloe, vit e and mederma to help it heal…poor baby 🙁

    1. haha – me too!! Hicky curling iron burns were the worst…though it DID save me from explaining a real hickey one time. 🙂

      1. lmao…that’s awesome!

  11. Oh my goodness..poor Stella!!

  12. Oh, God… I knew just looking at the photo what happened. Poor baby! I’m so sorry. 🙁

  13. Oh no!! Poor Stella! I can’t believe how tough she was. Ugg I have had one to many of those burns in my life time. Not fun!

  14. Ouch! I’m surprised she didn’t cry. Burns hurt. Ugh! Poor baby girl!! Her hair is getting long though. 🙂

  15. OMG, poor little thing! Kisses from mama make it all better!

  16. Oh ouch. Burns are the worst, what a trooper. I love the new header pic!

  17. Owie is right, but she’s showing her “fortitude”. Strong girl!

  18. I spent most of this post waiting for friend/cousin “Owie” to appear. Now I get it. Poor girl! My little guy stuck his fingers in steaming hot mango a few weeks ago and burned himself. i felt AWFUL. But he’s fine. And now doesn’t stick his little fingers in steaming hot mango.

  19. Oh no! Poor girl! That looks terrible but apparently your Stella is a real trooper!! She’s also about as adorable as can be. LOVE the dress!

  21. Josey I’m so sorry your little Stella is hurt. I know it was an accident but still you must be a little mad. Give her some hugs for me.
