Stella Times…51 Weeks

Hey Stelly!

DAT!

DAT! By the way, you have the hair of a wild woman lately – it just sticks straight out everywhere! LOL

This week you finally started allowing me to give you kisses. Before you’d always turn your head and offer your cheek, but now you’ll do both open mouth and closed mouth kisses, and every time I kiss you, you laugh hysterically. I’m not sure why my kisses are so funny, but I’ll take it. 🙂

Daddy was spraying your window in the car wash. SO much fun. :)

You love pointing at everything now days – “Dat!” or “Uh-oh!” – are heard nonstop around the house. If I put some food on your tray and you want something else, you’ll point at it and say DAT! Well okay – you have an opinion now and know how to express it. Nice! You also say Mama, Dada, THhhhhhh or EEEF (for Chief).

Daddy gave you your 1st bubble bath. It went over well. :)

Grandma Julie and Grandpa Elmo sent you a shopping cart last week as an early birthday present, and you absolutely love it. You push it around full of toys, then pull out all the toys, play for awhile, load the toys back up, and on your way you go. You basically use it as a portable toy box and as a means to furniture cruise from point A to point B. Smart kid!

Shopping fiend!

Last weekend was your friend Hennessy’s first birthday, and you got to have a cupcake with frosting on it. OH MY GOSH child, you were not so sure of it at first, but after a bit you absolutely devoured it. Daddy cannot WAIT for your smash cake at your birthday. Speaking of birthdays, how in the world are you turning 1 in just 9 short days?!

How cute is the hat that Great-Grandpa’s nurse made for you?!

Trying out a forward facing seat. You surprisingly weren't too into it, so we're back in the bucket seat for a few more weeks. Fine by me. :)

The days and weeks are flying by my daughter… I can’t believe how far we’ve come in one year. I love you so much.

  2. Lol @ soaphawk! I do this with dish soap on the daily now. Things have to be funny for Mum too!

I HEARD YOU WALKED TODAY STELLS!WOOOOOOOOOOOT!

  3. JJ gave Chloe her first bubble bath last week while I was at work and sent me almost the same picture. Apparently she loved it! What’s this SRB says about walking??? Little Stella, walking?! Say it ain’t so!

  4. She’s almost ready for water spout piggies!

    Happy early birthday Stella!

  5. I cannot believe how much Stella seems to have grown up in the past few weeks… or even just this week!! Eek!! She is turning into a toddler. I can’t believe so I am sure you are in disbelief even more. Talking, pointing, and as we found out on twitter….. walking today!!!! Eek!!! No more little baby in your house! 🙂

  6. SQUEEEEEEEEE! I love the one of her shopping 🙂 And every baby should have a bubble ‘do at some point 🙂

Nine days until she’s 1? Time is going by way too fast. How do we make it stop?! 🙂

  7. Candy corn hat LOVE! And I’m also totally coveting that shopping cart… all the ones I’ve seen are big ugly plastic things and that one looks like the real deal! Congrats on making it to one (9 days!) and on the WALKING! Yay Stella!!!

    1. It’s from Melissa & Doug! Great quality toys.

      1. Oh right on! We have some of their wooden “rings”. I’ll have to look for this cart, thanks!

  8. 51 weeks! I can’t believe it. Next week will be a big one!

  9. What a lovely post, and how neat all the stuff miss stells is doing. Love!!

Can i go all car seat nazi on you though? I want Stella to be add safe as possible, and i know you do too. The American association of pediatrics now strongly recommends that kids stay rear facing until at least two. Check out car-seat.org and you can read all about it.much safer. There are also videos you can watch on you tube. Also, her buckles look loose in that pic, can you get them a bit tighter? Xo

    1. Ha, yeah, I figured someone would say that. 🙂 I know the recommendations – we’re just going to play it by ear with S on if we turn her closer to 1 yr or 2. A friend borrowed us a convertible car seat to try out, just to see if we liked how it fit in the car / fit Stella, hence the pic. 🙂 We do buckle her in tighter too when out and about!

      1. FWIW, our ped told us at Gracie’s 15-month appt that the new not-at-one recs were more for babies who were barely 20lbs at a year. I told him Gracie was 19.6 at her 6-month appt, so he actually ENCOURAGED me to turn her. And he was our age, not even some old doc who thought he already knew everything and new recs didn’t mean squat. Lyla weighed 22.4 at her 6-month today 🙂

      2. Also, by bucket seat, do you mean you still have her in the infant carrier carseat? You can face the convertible ones backwards.

      3. I’ve also heard that Sheelah. Stella is probably at least 24# at this point – definitely not a lightweight, though she doesn’t hold a candle to your girls!! LOL

And yes, she’s in the infant carrier that goes up to 35# (we bought the special extended size one – silly us). I know the convertible can go backwards, just haven’t even switched yet.

  10. I can’t believe the girls are almost ONE!!! Car seat: yep I’m a rear facing as long as possible person. AAP all the way. Of course Raegan is 17 pounds and still fits quite nicely in her infant carrier 🙂 and Stells vocabulary….omg impressive. She really has grown up so much in the past month or so…oh how did our little girls grow up so fast!?!? And way to go with the walking!!! We’re still just cruzing, too scared to stand on our own yet, but she is constantly in her feet, so I’m guessing it’s not too far off for us.

  11. OMG I love it. Great pics too. What are the plans for her first bday? And hey have you found her amber necklace to make a difference with her teething?

    1. Ugh, just starting to make plans. Nothing crazy.
I think it helps – though of course there’s no way to know for sure. 🙂 Char and I decided that in case it’s helping even a little bit, we’re leaving the darn thing on!

  12. She is just simply beautiful. I need to remind myself that infertility does have happy endings for some of us. Maybe mine is on the horizon. As I embark on IVF, I am trying to find inspiration wherever I can. Stella is so gorgeous!

    1. Best of luck to you Jessah. I just read through your TTC history and we followed very similar journeys for awhile. I pray that this step to IVF will be the key for you and your husband!
