As most of you are aware, I am one of the main contributors to PAIL (Pregnant/Parenting through Adoption/Infertility/Loss), and it is a project/website/resource that I feel SO thankful to be a part of. The ALI blogging community has been there for me when very few IRL friends understood my journey, and now that I am parenting, it still feels wonderful to have found a like minded community of women to connect with. Last weekend marked the 6 month anniversary of the launch of our official website, so to celebrate, we asked the people who are a part of the blogroll to do a VLOG (video blog) answering 5 questions that we posed so that we could get to know everyone a little better. The entire list goes live on Saturday morning – check it out!
I have a cold right now so I’m sounding pretty stuffed up, but ah well, ’tis life. 🙂
I may be remembering this wrong, but for some reason I think I started following your story when you posted a video on giving yourself a shot. C was out of town and there you were. I was strolling through your archives to find it, but I couldn’t find it. So maybe that wasn’t you,but I’m pretty sure it was. We went through our pregnancies together, had the girls 3 days apart, have met in person. All thanks to this community and more so since PAIL.
I’m so very grateful you ladies stepped up to run PAIL. When Elphaba initially wanted to pass the torch, I thought about it, but my own insecurities held me back, and of course my lack of HTML knowledge and other internet stuff. But you ladies stepped up. Filled some amazing shoes and helped build a community of women with likemindedness, similar experiences and common threads. Thank you THANK YOU all so much for all you do for PAIL. I’m so happy to be a part of something SO.MUCH.BIGGER than me!
PS happy early birthday to Stella! She’s so freaking adorable…our 1 year isn’t until the 17th…I’ve got 10 more days to prepare for shots 🙁 Hope tomorrow is as wonderful as it was last year…and there will be EMOTIONS!(thanks SRB)
I remember this video too so I am sure it was her!!! I was a secret follower back then, then eventually a blogger myself and commenter… so much of which was actually inspired by Josey, one of the first blogs I ever started reading while TTC myself!! 🙂
http://mycheapversionoftherapy.com/2011/03/24/wishing-hoping/ — Here’s the video. 🙂
Thanks for all the compliments on PAIL – I truly am SO grateful to be a part of it.
Stella ended up only getting her 4th prevnar today and no MMR b/c it was 1 day before her birthday and legally they can’t give MMR until they’re 1. Silliness.
Mmrrp! Bad math 4 days apart…lol
Thanks for the video link….brings back memories sooo many memories…awesome 🙂
Yay!! You definitely seem much happier and upbeat with that beer in you!! Sooo nice to see you and hear you as you after many many many months of following your blog!!
Uggg the jealously… this is something I need to get better at but it still pops up no matter how hard I try to push it away. One of my very close friends is actually in labour at this moment and part of me can’t help but feel jealous. I know, ridiculous but it is there, it is always there (she got pregnant by accident by the way). Also, definitely agree that this has taught me not to ask those big questions.. well not that I think I ever did, but makes me more aware of them if others ask them around me and am more sensitive to those things.
Loved the video with Stella!! She looks so much like Alidia when she wakes up from a nap… stil a little out of it. And her adorable big smile!! And also of course, ignoring when asked to show off her skills, just like Lids did to me! 😛 Ohh our girls.
Thanks so much for sharing you and Stella in this way with all of us!!! 🙂 Loved watching… okay NOW I need to go to sleep after hours of vlog watching!! 😛
Ha. I’m really a pretty outgoing person -that’s why I laughed so much at myself in that first PAIL intro video, b/c I looked so oddly somber!
I hear ya on the friend giving birth thing. It’s just hard – probably always will be I guess.
I can’t wait to check out your video – I’ve avoided watching any of them until I did mine. 🙂
GotDAMN you are so gorgeous! How do you do that whole “no makeup, but it’s cool because I don’t need it” thing?!
I still have a hard time with people who get pregnant, too, even when it’s my IF friends! I am THRILLED for them, of course, but something always seems to “come up” when the day of the baby shower rolls around. Ugh, it’s hard. But I still very much want to throw someone a baby shower because also, I love baby showers. I don’t get it either!
I totally agree stunning!
I love love love this. Man you have the sexiest voice!! It’s amazing how many of us have the same answers to q4 & 5. So fantabulous to hear you live and totally relaxed!! Awww can we hear the morning song???
Haha – my high school boyfriend and I used to talk on the phone for hours, and he would always tell me I had a phone sex operator voice. Ridiculous, but it still makes me giggle. 🙂
I thought about giving you a snippet of the song, but EEK…I decided to spare your ears. LOL
HENCE THE HANGOVERS! Best. (Second best = the freeze frame on the Stella video!)
Jealousy is a hard thing to admit out loud. I mean, I know I have read it and nodded along and all that. But saying it takes guts – good for you.
Like Chon said, it is so interesting to hear the same themes in #5. It doesn’t fix you, and it doesn’t go away. It ebbs and flows, but it won’t always be a riptide.
Glad to know you woman. 🙂
I wondered if anyone would notice that little muttered comment. Hehe. 🙂
Glad to know you too lady.

Look how happy Stella is to hear that she’ll be getting shots! 🙂 haha.
Also, I get jealous when I find out other friend are pregnant, or giving birth, or entering their third trimester. Anything! And I fortunately never had to go through any difficulties getting there myself. So if anyone should feel bad about jealousy, it’s certainly not you! I just asked McMister a couple weeks ago of he gets jealous hearing that a friend’s wife is pregnant. He said, “No, but obviously you do!” haha
Also, watching you in video makes me feel like a total stalker! I don’t know why reading people’s most personal thoughts doesn’t weird me out, but seeing them say them does.
Haha – it IS different to actually hear the words coming out of someone’s mouth, isn’t it?
Ha! Much less serious this time. 😉 What a great idea you guys came up with in doing this. It has been truly interesting to see everyone’s vlogs and realize that I have a harder time putting my true vulnerable side out there (in video anyway). I echo so many of all ya’lls answers though! 😉 And Stella, adorable of course (and ONE YEAR OLD- can you believe it?!)
You look so polished and put together! What is your secret? Loved your vlog.
I agree with Mandski, you are so calm and collected. Love your comments, love the vlog!
This is my first visit to your blog. I agree that you put us all to shame as the prettiest and sexiest-voiced of the PAIL bloggers. Whatever. Like I care. ; )
We had very similar answers, and it was good to “meet you”! I have added you to my google reader so you’ll see me around here more often in the future : )
Ha! I think the beer totally helped! You were so natural this time! You are so right, getting the baby doesn’t fix all the rest although I am so hopeful or you that it “does.” Glad we got to meet in real life if only for a brief time and glad to “see” you again. 😉
Wow, I totally assumed you would have a strong Minnesota accent. My step mom’s falls is in Fergus Falls and whoa they have strong accents.
Stella is such a happy girl! She looks like it in her pics, but it really shows on videos.
Also, thank you for all of your hard work on PAIL. Between school and work I sometimes don’t get to participate fully, but even if I don’t do it, I love reading about others!
Happy 1 year Stells!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, when I’m back home I can pull out the Minnesotan accent quite easily!! Living in France really helped moderate(?) my voice and I lost a lot of my accent during that time. I can still fake it with the best of them though. 🙂
I love your videos! I’m still so surprised by your voice! Its so awesomely raspy!!!
I love that you go into Stella’s room singing in the morning! She’ll love that memory!
HI!!! It is so like you’re here again! Good to see you and a lil glimpse into your house 🙂 The jealousy thing – seriously – that is SO hard for me to handle. I was never a jealous person before IF, and I hate it when the ugly green monster rears its ugly head!
Great video! Stella is so cute! Happy first bday, girl!
Nice to see you! Stella is precious!
I hear you on not asking people about family building anymore. I just don’t go there. It’s funny though, anytime someone over 30 has twins, I so can’t help but wonder how they came to be. I’d never ask!
Love these vlogs- thanks to you guys for taking charge of PAIL and coming up with this- it’s been a great way to meet everyone! Definitely agree about the jealousy thing- so hard! My baby is only 3 months old but a friend just had her third and I’m SOOO stinkin’ jealous of her.. happy too, of course but jealous!
