And She’s Off!!!

On November 30th at 51w1d, Stella started taking a few steps at time. The first time was that morning as I tried to sneak away to shower for work. She looked over at me from her box of stuffed animals, started doing her whiny/cry, and walked right over to me. Consider my jaw dropped. 🙂

Since then, she would take a few steps here and there to get to things, but never more than a few feet worth.

Today (on December 11, 2012 at 1y3d), I got to daycare after work to pick her up and watched her walk across the room to me.

EEEK!! We have a toddler folks!

She is FULL of bumps and bruises already from her first real day of walking, poor kid. I’m sure she’ll get the hang of it soon, though. LOL

In the meantime, we just had a really nice dinner, and now Charlie and Stella are laying together on the floor watching music videos (Phillip Phillips and Adele) while I write this and feel sentimental about my baby no longer being a baby.

Life is so good.

  3. Go Stella!!! We’re walking here between objects or to someone with open arms and I know it’s just a matter of time as well! I LOVE the pic- that 1. dad can totally lay on a pink bear 2. she is a Mac girl and 3. that is totally your expression! Good times.

  4. Way to go Stella! Part of me is terrified of Raegan starting to walk…”make suit of bubble wrap” keeps running through my head….Oh I can’t believe she’s walking, like full on walking! Exciting and a little sad all at once!

  5. Woooooooooooot! Atta girl, Stella! I’m so proud 🙂

  6. Josey, look it up in your baby book. I seem to remember you started walking either December 11th or December 12th, 1982. 🙂 It would just be fun to see if this is a faulty memory or not! Go Stella!
    xxlove yous

    1. I just checked, Mom. December 11th was the first time I stood on my own (and apparently Dad got a picture of it?). I would have been 10m3w old. It looks like my first real steps were on Dad’s 32nd birthday – January 4th (at 11m2w old), and I started walking the day before your birthday on January 15th, just 5 days shy of my 1st birthday. This book is SO much fun to look back through. 🙂

  7. Woah. We’ve got toddlers! GO STELLA!

  8. go Stella GO

  9. I’m so emotional over here! I don’t know why!! This is huge! She’s just so grown up!!! I would love to see her and Amy’s LC toddling around together! Your girls are doing the same things!

You must be one proud mama! Heck, I’m proud of Stella today!!

    1. I know – I just commented on Amy’s post today that Stella was on LC’s heels! LC was born on Stella’s due date (12/22/11) so I always feel like they are karmically connected or something. 🙂

  10. Josey, it amazes me how similar our girls are in milestones. I have an official walker this week, too, and a first birthday on the 15th 🙂 I have really enjoyed watching Miss Stella grow. She is beautiful.

    1. Same to you, Shannon!!

  11. Oh Josey, that is so great! Can’t believe our girls are growing up so fast!

  12. Way to go, Stella!

  13. Go Stella!! Those first few weeks of walking are insane! I remember Sofia would sometimes suddenly think, “wait, I’m walking?!?!” and sit down. Ha! Have fun!!

    That picture is adorable!

  14. Go Stella!!! That’s awesome. Taylor started taking 3-8 steps at a time two weeks back. I was wondering how long it normally takes to get a full walker on your hands. I’m hoping by Christmas. 🙂

  15. Oh Stella, you just want to cram as many wonderful things into your birthday week as you can. First birthday, walking..what’s next? Way to go sweet girl!

  16. Yay Stella!

  17. Congrats!!! Isn’t it such an amazing feeling, when my oldest started walking I bawled tears as his first steps were running into my arms.

My youngest is coming along and tippy toeing everywhere, he will be one next week!

    Go Stella!!!

  18. Yay, Stella! Way to go, big girl!

  19. Go stella! It’s so amazing to watch them turn into little kids!

  20. Yay!!! Congrats Stella!! That is so exciting. She really is becoming a little toddler. Love the photo of her and Charlie. You are right.. with these little girls in our life.. life is sooo good.
