Back Into the Swing of Things

Wow. I have posted 3 times in the past two weeks, and they were all a paragraph or less of text. That is a (low) record for me. For nearly three years, I’ve been averaging 5 posts per week, but life…. LIFE man… it has just gotten away from me lately.

I just posted a news item over at PAIL about a conversation between my husband and I last night, and I tell ya, it isn’t pretty. Traveling is AWESOME, and we do pretty well at it, but it’s also exhausting, and after nearly two weeks of go go go go… I am done. I am behind. I literally brought my kid to daycare today (on my day off from “real” work) just to catch up on emails, finish up some bookkeeping, organize our taxes, make some food, exercise…etc.etc.

You get it. We all get it. We’ve all been there. But MAN am I ready to feel on top of things again.

So. Here’s a quick picture for today, and I promise that between this blog and my family blog, I’ll get some recap posts from vacation up soon. I also just bought Simplicity Parenting for the PAIL Bookclub, because I suddenly realized that OH SHIT I HAVE NOT EVEN BOUGHT THE BOOK and I really wanted to participate in this discussion.

Simplicity. We all need it.

PS – my baby doesn’t look like a baby anymore! This is in the final bathroom of the final airport on our trip home. I just had to set her down and laugh. 🙂

  1. Great post over at PAIL!

I’m so glad you got a day to get things in order. Order is GOOD!

You’re right. She doesn’t look like a baby there AT ALL.

Ok, just read the PAIL post (secretly, of course, since I’m not a PAILer). McMister randomly started reading my blog bc it’s been up on my iPad (got it for Christmas), and whoever is stuck sitting outside Gracie’s room while she falls asleep gets iPad privileges. So far, it’s been nice (I feel like he cares what I think about finally, he gets a real sense of my thoughts and feelings, etc). BUT it’s only been a few days, and I know he’ll get to some posts where I wasn’t exactly happy with him, and we’ll just have to see how that goes. Maybe it’ll be good, idk. Also, even though I never wrote anything really BAD about him before, I am nervous to write anything about him now.

    1. LOL, anyone is welcome to comment on PAIL and take part in things like book club! You don’t have to read in secret you goof. 🙂

I totally get what you mean about writing about your spouse on your blog…I mean, sometimes I think it would HELP if Charlie read my posts (he does have my URL after all) and realized what I was so frustrated about or struggling with … but then sometimes I just want to vent without a “solution” being offered. Who knows… I want to have my cake and eat it too I suppose. 🙂

  4. I am taking Grace on her first flight soon and I may be contacting you for tips! Stella looks gorgeous as always!

  5. Good to have you back. I know how it feels to be so ‘out of the swing’ and it always feels good to get back to it, even if the away time was awesome, as I’m sure your trip was! 🙂 I have been in such a weird rut lately since it is a busy busy time with work right now so I too have been away from my blog but hope to get back to it soon (no promises as busy season won’t be over for a while).

Reminds me I really want to read that book!! But know I won’t get to it in time for PAIL bookclub 🙁 I will check online to see if a Kindle version is available though. Did you get a hard copy?

Love that photo of Stells. So big!!!

  6. I just started getting into Simplicity Parenting too– only bought it a few days ago but what a great read! It’s holding my attention, which most books don’t do these days because I have NO attention span. Good stuff in there 🙂

I love that photo of Stella. She looks like a four-year-old up there!

  7. She has just grown! Missed you! Welcome back 🙂

That picutre cracks me up- ha! What a cutie pie. I am really wanting to simplify my life too, so will definitely be reading that book. Don’t know if I can get it together enough (acutally I KNOW I won’t- ha) to read it in time for the book club discussion, but I know I will be interested to read everyone’s thoughts!

  9. I totally get the busyness and feeling way behind on your to-do list. Lately, I’ve just been chucking the list out the window and reading blogs. This is both good and bad…mostly bad right now considering my to-do list is over 30 items long. I just counted.
