Weekly Wednesday Weigh-In

Weekly Wednesday Weigh-In: 5 Weeks Postpartum

-Starting Weight: 5’8″ and 172.9# / BMI 26.3
-Last Week’s Weight: 162.9#
-Current Weight: 160.8# / BMI 24.4

Avg Daily Steps – 6,391 (goal was 6,000/day)
Avg Daily Calories –  1,582 (avg deficit of 689/day)
# Floors Climbed – 117 (goal was 100)

Focusing on nutrition has been going really well for me this past week. It’s a good reminder for me that yes, exercise is good, and I need to be in the habit of moving my body, but what is even MORE important (for me) is eating well. Eating sensible portions of nutritious foods goes a long ways towards helping me feel full and satisfied (and even lose weight at the same time).

Over the past three months since my sister’s wedding, I’ve lost 12#. It’s definitely annoying that I didn’t bother doing this BEFORE the wedding and all of the family pictures, but oh well, at least I’m doing it now. It feels good to finally be back at least to where I was when I got pregnant with Stella (161#). I was there at 6w post partum as well, but ya…life happens! My BMI is also back in the “normal” range (18.5-24.9).

2011 and 2013 — e.t.a. 4 weeks pregnant in both!

Though I’m at the same weight as I was 2 years ago, I’m definitely still not in the same shape. My friend Ann has inspired me to do this challenge for the month of May, so it starts today! I’ll take pictures – so we’ll see how it goes. 🙂 If anyone else wants to jump in, start today!

Goals for this coming week:

Average Daily Steps – 6,000/day
Total # Floors Climbed – 100

Track food every day – keep portions sensible and nutritious.
Drink 5+ glasses of water every day.

Weekly Tip:

Sleep is important – get plenty of it! – My FitBit tracks how long I sleep and how well I sleep, and it’s been hugely interesting to me. I seem to get between 7-8 hrs of actual sleep per night, and I spend about 30 minutes in bed not asleep – aka tossing and turning and trying to sleep. WHOA does it make a difference in how I feel when I get <7 hours instead of >8! There are numerous studies that show that more sleep = weighing less. Get some extra sleep today!

  1. So great to hear how well you have been doing with eating this week! And the constant weight loss since your sister’s wedding… awesome!! 🙂 Keep it up! Also, I am totally in for the ab challenge. I was running in front of my mirror in just a sports bra last night and was pretty happy with most things other than that belly jiggle.. time to get those abs in shape! 🙂

    1. Yay! I did my 1st day of it this morning. I have a feeling it will get harder quickly. LOL

    2. Go Fiona! I don’t have the guts to run in just a sports bra 🙂

      1. haha this was only in my own house (on the spot running)! No way I’d be running the streets like that! 😉

  2. Go you! That’s a great weight loss. Now you have a clean slate to start all over. Going back to work last month has meant less exercise so I’m really watching my calories.

    1. Yep, it’s hard to fit in exercise when you have work + want to hang out with the kiddo at night, so for me, I REALLY need to get back into eating really well.

      1. Ha. Literally start over now!! Josey no beer this summer!!!!!

  3. […] Starting this great ab challenge that Josey introduced on her post today.  […]

This is kind of random but I’m LOVING your header picture! Did you take that? Is that your backyard? If so, I’m so jealous! 🙂 Also, congrats on being healthy! 🙂

    1. Yep! I took that last summer I think. I have a gazillion pics of Stella’s diapers drying on the line in our back yard. Pretty picturesque. 🙂

    Big week! Congrats 🙂

How is that you’re just now in the “normal” range of anything body-wise? You’ve looked beautiful the whole time I’ve “known” you. To say that you didn’t look “normal” is crazy to me. I have a pretty critical eye when it comes to weight (unfortunately), and I’ve never though you looked any heavier than you should. I’m glad you’re FEELING good though!

    1. Yeah, I carry most of my weight in my belly/hips, so I guess if you dress appropriately, it’s not as obvious to everyone else. I’ve never been obese, but I’ve definitely been in the overweight range one and off for the past few years. It feels good to be whittling away at that part of me again. 🙂

  6. Good job this week!

Tracking food is HARD! I don’t seem to have the time to do it. But I know that food tracking can work, so I need to figure out how to make time to.

Ha, my FitBit’s sleep tracker was set to sensative and it was saying I was getting 3.5-4.5 hours of sleep total. I was starting to think I needed to see a doctor then I googled the sleep aspect of the FitBit and changed the setting. It’s now set to “normal” so we’ll see how sleep goes from now on 🙂

    1. LOL, yeah, I have mine set to normal too. It’s good to read the FAQ to figure out little details like that!

  7. And after realizing I have exactly ONE MONTH before my sister’s wedding, I am going to join in on the ab challenge 🙂

  8. Alright…I downloaded the calendar for abs. Then I googled the difference between a sit-up and a crunch. I do solemnly vow to do this challenge for at least three days. Disclaimer: I will be doing “lady” pushups.

    1. LMAO. At least 3 days, eh? Good luck! 🙂
