The Monday Snapshot – Hanging in There Ed.

As I mentioned in my post last Thursday, this pregnancy has been kicking my ass. Unfortunately, I’m not the only one in the house who has been feeling under the weather. Last Tuesday I had some daycare issues (SEVEN people couldn’t watch Stella!) so I decided it was the universe’s way of telling me to take the day off and stay home with her.

Shortly after that, she puked on me.

The poor thing – she just looked at me in shock and kind of laughed when I gagged! We spent the rest of the day just chilling on the couch, watching TV, and feeling generally miserable together.

sickstellsThat night we headed to our meeting with the homebirth midwife and his wife (more about that later, but it was an awesome meeting!), and as we pulled into their driveway, Stella puked all over herself in the car seat. SO gross. Again, cue the gagging on my part, as Stella pitifully repeated “ewwww ewwww ewwww” to herself.

When we got home for a late dinner a couple of hours later, Stella did her 3rd and final puke in the high chair. DAMN that shit is gross, especially when you’re already operating in a constant state of nausea.

So yeah, it was an interesting day in our household. Thank goodness she slept great that night (I was petrified of her puking in her crib in the middle of the night), and seemed to be doing much better by the next day.

As of Thursday, I’m the one who has been actually puking all day, but honestly, that is infinitely better than watching your baby be sick. 🙁

  1. Oh, you poor girls! The pitiful “ewww, ewww, ewwww” got me. I want to go give her a hug. 🙁

    1. It really was the saddest little sound! 🙁

  2. Feel better!!!! Feeling sick all the time is so horrible. Hopefully you feel better the same time as the last pregnancy or sooner!

  3. That suuuucks. I’m glad she’s feeling better and I hope you are on the mend now too.

    She’s cute even when she’s unhappy/sick. 🙂

  4. Eeeeeew, feel better both of you! I really can’t imagine anything more nauseating than being nauseous and then having to see puke!

  5. She’s so cutely pathetic! And I’m sure you are, too … 😉

Hope this nauseous stage passes quickly for you! Any chance of getting some anti-puking meds? One thing I regret is waiting so long to get my hands on some.

    1. Hahaha, cutely pathetic. I like it.

Yeah, I started on Zofran last Thursday after work – broke down and told my boss (a doctor) what was going on. Still puking, but at least feeling slightly better between pukes. *sigh*

  6. Damn girl, you guys just can’t catch a break! I do think the little ones puking is the worst, they look so scared when it’s happening. And I’m sure as they get older and realize a bit more of what’s going on, it’s going to be even more heartbreaking. I’m glad Stella seems to be feeling better and I hope the Zofran and other tricks start to work for you pronto!!

  7. Aww you poor girls.. I love that photo of her though. So happy she is feeing better… just wish it was the same for you!! Hoping this is just a 1st tri. thing… or even less than that!!! Excited to hear how the midwife meeting went!

  8. Ugh – I’ve had Taylor throw up 4 times since being pregnant (mostly due to motion sickness). It is not fun at all…especially with your enhanced sense of smell. Hang in there. I’m commiserating with you.

  9. Raegan has been fighting either developing allergies or a bad taking forever to go away cold. With her increased mucous, which is gross in it self, she’s puking in the evenings after drinking her milk. There is nothing worse than the smell of vomit and curdled milk….gagging just thinking about it. I made it through 3 episodes without getting sick, but then I knew she was going to spew and caught it in my hand (she was in our bed and I didn’t feel like changing my sheets in the middle of the night. Yep, cue my 45 minutes of praying to the porcelain god after getting her settled…amazed I held out. You’re doing amazing if you made it through “ewww, ewww, ewww” without losing it yourself. Glad she’s feeling better and I hope you too are getting better, especially with the Zofran on board. I’m too much of a wuss to call my OB and ask for it, so I just puke away….I went a whole 5 days without losing it….now we’re back to several times a day 🙁 Thought 17 weeks would be a turning point….I thought wrong…here’s to you getting over this quickly!!!

  10. Awe…how sad she was saying ewww, ewww, ewww. Heartbreaking. I can’t imagine dealing with puke while pregnant. Hope you feel better soon.

  11. I ADORE this picture of Stella! What a big girl!!!! But I’m sorry you both are/were feeling so terrible. I hope respite comes quickly!

  12. She looks so old 🙁 I want her to stay a baby longer, but I guess new baby will be just as good! You are so lucky she slept well. Getting up with a scared, sick, and exhausted toddler all night while you change their sheets and pajamas and they have to go without their usual nighttime friends bc they puked all over them, too, is AWFUL. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone! Esp. an already sick pregnant mom. I hope you feel better soon.

  13. Poor girls 🙁 Miss E laughs hysterically and then imitates me when her diapers make me gag. I guess Stella couldn’t have been too traumatized if it made her laugh a little!

  14. Yikes – hope the med helps you function soon, and hope Stella is on the mend.

  15. The worst night we’ve ever had was when S woke up screaming and when I went to get him (because I didn’t yet know) I reached into the crib in the dark to find him covered in puke. It was seriously gross. Cleaned him up brought him to bed and it continued until just before we boarded a plane for my grandmothers funeral. I’m sorry you were both sick. And I really hope she never throws up in bed. And that pic is so cute despite the sick.

  16. Oh man! This sounds awful! Poor baby! And poor you! Looking forward to hearing more about your meeting with the midwife.
