13 Weeks

**Caution – lots of belly pics & pregnancy talk below this photo! No, I’m not always going to write this disclaimer, but I did today, so there ya go.**

Stella with her cousins and grandparents today at the 4th of July celebrations. One of the funniest pictures ever of them. :)

Stella with her cousins (who are visiting from Minnesota)and her paternal grandparents today at the 4th of July celebrations. One of the funniest pictures ever of them. 🙂

So I’ve been slacking on weekly pregnancy updates, but I just don’t find that I have as much to write about this time around. I think having Stella to focus on keeps me so much busier and more distracted.

I’m officially in the 2nd trimester now, and that feels SOOO good. I’m still getting sick (puking in the evenings/nights for the most part), so that’s kind of a bummer, but other than that I’ve had no real symptoms. No breast tenderness or growth or anything, dammit! I’ve been able to eat again though the past few weeks, so I’ve put back on a few pounds that I lost from weeks 6-10, and I am back up to my pre-pregnancy weight (161#). With Stella I was up 6# at this point — but then still weighed the same at 21 weeks, so I’m curious to see what happens this time around.

My weight may be 6# less right now, but my belly is definitely much bigger this time around. I’m easily looking like I did at 18-19 weeks last time. Eek! My belly definitely started in a softer/rounder shape this time, but overall it’s just looking pregnant a lot faster this time in my clothing. The pics below don’t really do it justice I don’t think.

Also, we are now officially telling people in the community that I’m pregnant. After the ultrasound at 10w2d and then with the ever growing belly, it just felt like it was time. I did a small post on my Facebook yesterday (at exactly 13w) and had a minor heart attack about it, but I think it struck a good balance between being discreet and yet joyous. Here’s the post I linked to.

So there you go – a bit of a boring update, but for posterity I figured I should get something thrown up on here! The Second Trimester already… phew!

(ps, I’ve finally linked my new belly photo project to the “Photo Series” drop down menu above for those of you who are interested in watching my midsection grow. I’ve always had a strange addiction to looking through belly photo series myself. I love it! The human body is an amazing thing.)

  1. You look great!!!! Yay for 12 weeks!

  2. as someone who was told she looked full term at 22 weeks and who hasn’t gained a pound yet this pregnancy I can definitely say the belly pops faster but weight gain is MUCH slower…And your belly pics are too cute…I tried, but mine just isn’t cute…I seriously just look fat and like I’m trying too hard to be pregnant…LOL I’m glad the sickness is only in the evenings, but I’ll be so happy for you when it’s ALL GONE!!! Which will hopefully be soon 🙂

  3. Yeah, my belly is huge. At 12 weeks I was offered a seat on the subway! I’d also gained 15 pounds already–but was 7 pounds under my starting weight with Smudgie when I got pregnant. So who knows!

  4. You always look beautiful!

  5. Congrats!!!

  6. Hooray for reaching the second trimester!!! I know I felt a huge sense of relief to hit that point 🙂
My boobs didn’t seem to grow or get sore with this second pregnancy nearly as early either…in fact not until very late in the 2nd tri, early 3rd. I attributed it to nursing the first couple months of pregnancy, though I have no evidence nor have read anything that would indicate this can/will happen, just how my thought process worked!
Congrats and you look great! 😀
    That first picture is priceless!!!

    1. I’ve thought the same thing about my boobs! 🙂

My boobs didn’t change with my second pregnancy or this one, but I had read in WTEWYE to expect that. Nursing was also a breeze for me after already knowing how to do it!

  7. Yay for 2nd trimester! Glad the sickness is (hopefully) tapering off.

  8. Congratulations Mama!!! You are gorgeous. Thank you for sharing your journey.

Love the pics! 🙂 Every pregnancy after my first I gained the same amount of weight but my uterus “popped” faster each time.

I wanted to ask you how you are feeling. I am right behind you at 11 wks 4 days with my fourth, and the nausea/vomiting got better, than got worse at 11 wks 🙁 Now I am still nauseous and puking once or twice between 3-8pm. It feels better than all day, but I DREAD the evenings because I feel like I am waiting to be sick, get the kids to bed and pass out!

    1. Ugh, sounds like my experience. Around 10w the all day puking let up, but the evenings are still really hard – puking most every day 1-2x between 4pm-sleep. 🙁 I hope it lets up for us both soon.

Crap Josey that is me 🙁 Puking between 1-3 times a night depending on how bad I feel between 3-8pm is the worst. I KNOW it is totally worth it (we did fertility treatments for our first 2 and had 2 early losses before our third) but man I am SO sick of being sick. Hope you feel better soon.

  10. You’re beautiful!! And YAY for the second trimester! I so hope the puking lets up soon!!

Awesome cousin photo. Love the belly….totally normal to show sooner.

  12. You look fabulous! I definitely started showing much earlier this pregnancy too. My abdomen is a little more, umm, relaxed this time around. 😉

  13. Wow.. you look fantastic!!! 🙂 Yay for being in the 2nd trimester! So excited for you. Sorry the sickness is still there but glad it is slowly getting better. Hope it is completely gone soon.
