23 Weeks

Wowzers – time is just getting away from me lately, and honestly, I just haven’t had much to blog about. I’m working on a long, involved post about my research regarding the choices we have regarding all of the testing done during pregnancy, but other than that, I’m really just enjoying this part of the pregnancy and spending a lot of time with my husband and daughter and our friends. It’s nice to be so relaxed about things and to be in the “easy” part for a little while. So far I’ve buried my head in the sand about figuring out maternity leave, paying the bills, and the logistics of taking care of 2 kids, but at least physically, I’m doing pretty well lately!

I’m feeling little man move more and more, and last weekend he was kicking (punching?) so hard I could see it on the outside of my belly! Sadly, Charlie & Stella haven’t been around at the right moment to feel it yet, but I’m sure they will soon. The heartburn is getting worse, but chewing on papaya enzyme tablets seems to be helping with that a bit at least. I’m still really tired at night, but if I wake up in the middle of the night, I will usually be up for an hour. Ugh.

I’m up to 173# (12# gain) compared to 170# at this point last time, and my belly has seriously popped lately. Thankfully, I’ve been doing really well about getting out and doing my C210k run 2x/week (it takes about an hour usually) and trying to get on the elliptical 1-2x/week, so at least I’m doing some exercise. It’s better than nothing, since I spend 35+ hrs/week sitting at a desk job. I really want to be as healthy & strong as possible when it comes time for delivery!

Funnily enough, I just read back over my 23w post from this point in my pregnancy with Stella, and I had decided to hire a cleaning lady for the first time ever to help out with cleaning the bathrooms and kitchen. Some mis-communication happened and I was a little peeved and she never showed up and I never called her to reschedule. Now, 2 years later, she is coming today to my house for the (actual) first time, and I spent two hours before work this morning frantically cleaning so that she wouldn’t see what a pig sty my house had become! LOL. I’m hoping it’s totally worth the $40/month to not have to deep clean my bathrooms and kitchen the rest of this pregnancy.

**PS – I just found out that my BFF here is having a little boy as well! (due 1 month after me) This is the same friend who had the m/c issues when we were both TTC for #1. I’m so excited for her!

  1. Wow, time really is flying, I can’t believe you’re 23 weeks already! Glad to hear you’re enjoying this pregnancy =)

  2. I am excited for your friend too! It is wonderful that you will have kids close in age. You look AMAZEBALLS woman. Making me miss a pregnant belly 🙂

  3. You look like your mom in that photo you posted yesterday, was it? Wow!

Enjoy the cleaning lady!!!!! And congrats to your friend!!

  4. $40 a month? How often does she come? That’s a steal and you will love it! We had our house cleaned once before Drake was born and once before I went back to work, but at $80 a pop and my salary cut, we can’t afford to do it all the time. But I know what you mean about spending so much time cleaning before the cleaning lady comes – we all do that don’t we? Right? Or maybe just us, ha! I’m happy to hear you three are spending a lot of time together, you are feeling good, exercising, and just doing well in general. How fun that you and your BFF will have two boys so close together!

    1. It’s $40/time (for 2hrs of work), and I’m only having her come once a month. I can do the rest of the organizing/cleaning, I just hate scrubbing toilets & showers & stoves! 🙂

  5. You look adorable 🙂

I am 2 weeks behind you and baby is moving like crazy too finally being able to see my belly move the last week. Do you still use your Doppler? I use mine much less, but I have pulled it out once in awhile if I haven’t felt as much movement maybe every few weeks for just a few minutes.

Also, we did decide to find out and we are having a boy too 🙂 So ours go boy, girl, boy, boy. Trying to adjust to the thought of having 3 boys running around lol but my daughter will be one tough cookie with 3 brothers!

    1. I don’t usually use it anymore, but sometimes Stella likes to pull it out and find the baby, so maybe every few weeks?

      Phew – that’s a lot of boys!

  6. You are so cute, really popped! I’m so happy for you, and so glad you are enjoying this time as a family. I loved the hiking photos, you got some great family shots! All that other stuff just has a way of working itself out eventually.

Cleaning lady is a good idea! We started ours when I went back to work, and it’s one thing that I used to think was a luxury, but now a necessity. I pickup too beforehand, because I want to give her the opportunity to get everything as immaculately as possible. She can’t do that with dishes and laundry laying around. 🙂

Where are you going to put baby boy? Are you keeping your guest room a guest room? Moving Stella? Keeping him in your room? Just curious. And nosy, and hey did you get an iphone? I thought you were not an iphone user.

    1. No idea about space for the baby. He’ll be in our room the first 6 months we’re thinking (like Stella was) in the co-sleeper… then probably room sharing with Stells. I really don’t want to give up my guest room! We’ll see.

Yep, got an iPhone awhile ago cuz of the camera. 🙂

  7. Try not to worry about the logistics of caring for two kids; it comes as naturally as learning to care for one (ha!). But really, you’ll be a natural in no time. I’ve been really, really tired lately, too, and then up forever in the middle of the night. Wth? Annoying. Also, my belly has MEGA-popped in the past week or two. I’m pregnant like WOAH now. You look great 🙂

  8. I SWEAR this is the year for boys. Two of my besties are having boys and your friend is like the 29th person I know to also be pregnant or have had a boy! But… I’m a bit biased… but they are the BEST! 🙂 Oh, and only 12 lbs? I’m jealous. I eat wayyyy too much and put on wayyyy too much when I’m knocked up!

    1. Ha, ya, but you started at a much healthier weight than I did! If you start smaller, you gain more. 🙂

  9. You look amazing….I can’t believe you’re 23 weeks already. Seems like it really is flying by…Feeling this baby move is so weird because I didn’t have that much with Raegan due to my placental placement. Watching my belly move is super freaky but so cool. I’m enjoying every thump, thud and wave I feel because who knows if I’ll ever feel it again. So glad you’re staying so healthy. Good for you!! But then again, I never had any doubt LOL

  10. Yay for 23 weeks! And double yay for cleaning ladies!!!!

    Congrats to your BFF!

Do you know that you look tired in the pic? You are more than halfway through with the pregnancy….that was so fast!

And well congrats on the cleaning lady. Cleaning before she comes in…classic paradox.

    1. Yeah, I took the pic at my office on a Thursday (I work full time in 4 days Mon-Thurs) so by that point I’m always exhausted. Ah well… *sigh*

I hope you are lying down for a while when you come back home.

  12. Yay for active babies and the sweet spot of pregnancy! I’m glad you’re enjoying this time.

  13. Been missing you! Looks like things are going well and I can’t believe you are at week 23 already!!! You look great and enjoy the clean floors and bathrooms… I pay $65 just so our toddler doesn’t find food choices in the floor, ha ha. Worth it to me for some stress relief. So excited for you Josie!

  14. You look fantastic!! Yay for cleaning ladies. It definitely makes things a lot easier, even if it is only once in a while. That is so neat that your BFF is having a boy too!!

  15. Awww. You look great! I loved the 20-30 week period of pregnancy – it’s when you look obviously pregnant but can still move around comfortably 🙂

  16. You look so cute! Time IS flying. That is hilarious you cleaned before she cleaned lol

  17. So glad to hear that you’re able to enjoy this time during the pregnancy. You deserve a break after the rough start! Sheesh! You DO look tired, but you also look fabulous. Your bump is pretty book-perfect if you ask me. 🙂

  18. how is it going so fast? Congrats on 23 weeks! i love this part of pregnancy – energy is back, you can feel baby move, don’t have to worry about labor too much yet..
