25 Weeks

Well, I officially feel like a teenager. I’m hormonal, struggling with facial acne, gaining weight in weird places, don’t want to get out of bed, and feel like my body isn’t my own.

Ha! Even with everything I described above, I honestly still feel pretty darn good, and I plan on holding onto the “golden” phase of pregnancy for as long as I can. 🙂

I mentioned in my 23 week post that I finally broke down and hired a cleaning lady for our bathrooms & kitchen. She & her husband came that afternoon, and it was $40 for a “2 hour clean.” She’s worth the $30 and he’s worth the $10. The good news is that she cleaned my master bathroom and WHOO-BOY does it look awesome. I got a long lecture about keeping up with soap scum in the shower tile grout & sediment in the kitchen food disposal (meh, that’s what I hired you for) and then a hug to congratulate me on the pregnancy. Awkward? Yes. But we’ll definitely be having them come back once a month for the foreseeable future. I make fun of Sarah for her crazy cleaning regimens (on her hands and knees with a toothbrush? no thanks!), but in all honesty, I do like to have scrubbed tile grout & a sparkling white kitchen sink – it’s just never going to happen if it’s left up to me and my husband. I figure with all the money we’re saving by me not drinking right now, we could at least shuffle those funds towards a clean kitchen & bathrooms. 😉

As I mentioned on Monday, having clean bathrooms renewed my interest in freshening them up a little. They’re original to the house (circa 1995) with gold knobs & cheap cabinetry and shelving – whatever the contractor special was at Home Depot that day. On Saturday I told Charlie I wanted to paint the walls & base cabinets to at least give them some new life until we have the money to actually gut & re-do them with the gorgeous tile we bought that has been sitting out in our garage for the last three years. We did a family walk down to the hardware store (FitBit Steps FTW!) and picked up a couple gallons of paint and spent the rest of the weekend trading off cutting & rolling a few different coats of paint in the tiny spaces. It’s so fun to slap a new coat of paint on the walls & completely change the look of a space!

  1. I love the photo series you’re doing. It’s awesome! You look so great!

    Post photos of your bathroom!!!

  2. See….pretty grout makes you feel good doesn’t it? And to me it’s therapeutic even if I’m crazy to be doing it at 30 some weeks pregnant. I love the idea of doing a face lift until real work can be done. I just need to finish the furniture for the nursery before I can start on that. 😀 You’re looking amazing btw….what a great bump!

  3. You made me spit my diet 7 up out just now. “Meh, that’s what we hired you for..”.

Ooh, I just love your fall maternity wear. You look fantastic as usual, you can’t tell you’re feeling like a hormonal teenager at all. 🙂

    1. Seriously! She’s all lecturing like she’s my mother or something. Geez lady – I paid YOU to clean my grout b/c I’m not doing it. Get over it! I’m totally avoiding the house next time she cleans and just leaving cash on the counter for her. 🙂

Thanks! I just bought 3 shirts last weekend & a pair of jeans. Last time I lived in yoga pants the last cpl of months b/c I wasn’t working after 32weeks, but this time I needed some semi-professional work wear.

  4. You have just the cutest little baby bump! And I am having a terrible breakout even without being pregnant, if that makes you feel any better! 😉

  5. You are adorable!!! Love that outfit! 🙂

Glad you went for the cleaning lady. So handy!

So awesome that baby is kicking on the outside now. Love that stage!

  6. Our cleaning lady arrives in a few minutes FOR THE LAST TIME. I will probably literally cry. We’re trying to pay off our house extra fast now, so cleaning lady is no longer in the budget 🙁 We need bathroom pics!

  7. You look wonderful!! Enjoy the golden phase!

We get a cleaning lady weekly and it is one of the best investments we’ve ever made.

I really love how you document the belly. It looks like there’s a baby in there.

    1. Thanks! When I got pregnant with Stella, I knew i wanted to document the belly. I have NEVER heard a mother say she regrets taking belly pics – only regret that she didn’t. It’s so surreal to look back at afterwards and realize what your body is capable of!

  9. You look seriously adorable. (-:
