28 Weeks

28w

Oops – it’s been 3 weeks since my last pregnancy update post. I was so good about doing these weekly updates with Stella, but this time around it seems like time just gets away from me. At any rate, I am officially in the 3rd trimester now, no matter how you count it!

I don’t always post them here, but I have been pretty good about keeping up with my photo series this time around. It’s in the drop down list above if you ever want to check it out. I know some people hate belly pics, and some (like me) love them, so there ya go. 🙂 I also took a quick belly shot this morning right after I rolled out of bed (seriously, I had just gotten up, peed, stepped on the scale, and I took this pic – please excuse the bed head) to commemorate getting to this point. I have really fond memories of 28 weeks because this was the day I woke up to an outpouring of love from my blog friends last time (they threw me a virtual baby shower). I love you ladies.

I’ve definitely hit the point of pregnancy where it’s all feeling very “real.” I routinely bump my belly into Stella’s door frame when I’m sneaking out & shutting the door at night (oops, sorry little man!) because I forget how big I’m getting, and the heartburn is getting pretty intense.

It’s been fun to see my belly moving from time to time, and the punches, kicks, and thumps are getting pretty strong as well. I know I could have this baby anytime from mid-Dec to mid-Jan, but I had Stella at 38w on the nose, so it’s kinda stuck in my head that I could have a baby in my arms in 10 short weeks. Holy crap!

I weighed 176# this morning, which means I’m up 15# – just 1# more than I was with Stella at this point. I lost weight 1st tri this time around, but I gained weight more quickly during 2nd tri, so I’m all evened out at this point. Eek! Hopefully I can keep it in a reasonable range for these last three month. My FitBit friends are putting me TO SHAME with their step counts. I’m #14 of 16 right now, and the 2 friends that are literally full term pregnant have daily averages of 9,000-11,000+ steps per day. My average is not quite 5,000. Sheesh! Thankfully my eating habits have been good, but I really need to up the exercise ante to make sure I’m good and strong for delivery this time around again. I was so fit last time, and I don’t want to regret sitting on my butt this time! I can do this. 🙂

  1. Whoa! Your belly is so pronounced now! What are your plans for your at home birth? Does that take a lot of planning? I remember SRB had many things to account for, buy, and plan for. I love that stuff, please keep us in the loop of how you need to prepare for little mans birthday!

I can’t believe he could possibly be here in 10 weeks. Going to look at your bump photo series now!

    1. No, my midwife provides most of it. I’ll need to talk to him a little more about that one of these days I suppose. 🙂 We’ll rent the tub from him though, I know that! You know me, I’ll post a long winded, overly detailed post about it I’m sure. *grin*

Do you wear a skirt to bed? 🙂

    1. LOL, actually, yes, I often do. It’s one of those exercise skorts you can buy at Target. SUPER comfy. That skirt (which I bought up a size hoping it’d fit all pregnancy) or my yoga pants are my bedtime staples.

This was my first thought too! It’s a cute skirt.

  3. You can get active again… I know you can!

I charted my weight gain the same way you do. Charts, graphs, stats, OM MY!!!!!

    I thank you’re looking awesome!

    1. Glad I’m not the only crazy charter out there. 🙂

  4. You look adorable! I am 1.5-2 weeks behind you at just over 26 wks. Mine first 3 were born at 42 wks 1 day, 40 wks 5 days and 40 wks 2 days so hoping this one comes between 39-40 weeks lol 🙂

Everyone keeps commenting how small/tinyI am…it’s kinda annoying to be honest! I know they mean well, I am almost 5’9″ and about 128 lbs pre pregnancy, but I have babies from 7lbs 7oz to almost 9 lbs and my belly def pops at the end! Just like women don’t want to hear they are huge I don’t want to hear how small my belly is all the time like it isn’t normal lol! And for the record I am measuring right on track and so is baby!

    1. I so wish you blogged! You’re so good at commenting on my stuff, and I wish I could return the favor. 🙂

I’m guessing you don’t have the typical belly chub to make you pop faster earlier – makes sense you’d pop a lot at the end as the babies grow more quickly then!

  5. You look fantastic! I can’t believe you are already this far along. So exciting!

  6. You look great!! And it really looks like you are staying fit all over with just that baby belly growing! 🙂 Good for you for staying on top of healthy eating… that can be tough during pregnancy. Mmm ice cream (remembering my pregnancy). I still cannot believe you are 28 weeks already. Flying by!!!

    1. I LOOOOVE ice cream, but it make me feel sick after I eat it now. *sad panda*

You look great! Being a short, small chick, I look HUGE in my 3rd tri, since there’s nowhere for baby to go but out. And while I was in really good shape and at my thinnest before the pregnancy, I’ve gained a lot this time around. It’s frustrating, but I just don’t have the time or energy to work out right now other than my regular city walking. It’s okay, I know that I can lose it after the baby comes once I start running again, and I think I’ll add pilates this time to tighten up my core. But it does suck to constantly be told by everyone how huge I am 🙁

    1. Ya, that’s definitely an upside to being a taller person – lots of room for the kiddo to hang out. Stella was still constantly in my ribs, but I can’t imagine how it would have felt with a short upper body! Yesterday a guy asked me if I was “near term.” Um, nope. 😛

  8. I love the skirt! I bet I am one of those fitbit friends that you are beating! I thought I lost my Fitbit yet again. It fell out of my pants pocket and I didn’t find it until this morning. I have to charge it tonight and I will be back on track. Note to self – wear fitbit in bra from now on! You look great!!!

    1. Ha, yep! You are…and I figured you hadn’t been wearing yours. 🙂

You look awesome! Love the photo series!! In the summer I sleep in skirts all the time!

  10. I’m so glad you’re in such a good place right now! It’s lovely to hear.

I am totally in awe of how well you keep track of EVERYTHING. It amazes me.

  11. You look great! My fitbit numbers have plummeted this week, oy! I have two days of not even 5k I think, totally pathetic. hooray for 3rd tri!
