Awards Season…aka A Bunch of Rambling

Well, here I am sitting at work today being extremely unproductive (sorry boss) because I have holidayitis today thanks to knowing that as of 5:30pm I’m off until next Monday! It just occurred to me that I was nominated for two different blog awards in the past couple of weeks, and they would be the perfect distraction from my absolute boredom today. Both require that I answer 10 questions posed by the nominators, so be prepared to learn lots of nonsensical tidbits about me today. This is the highlight of your day, right?

How it works:
1. Include the Stork Award icon in your post
2. Link to the person(s) who nominated you (the lovely Cristy of Searching for our silver lining)
3. Answer the 10 questions about yourself
4. Nominate as many bloggers as you want to receive the award
5. Ask your nominees 10 new questions
6. Link your nominees and let them know they’ve been nominated
7. Post the Stork Award icon on your blog side bar if you are so inclined
  • Do you like to plan things out in detail or be spontaneous?
Both! I’m a Type-A research & planner about a lot of life, but especially when it comes to travel, I love to just get up an GO if at all possible. Some of my greatest adventures started from booking a last minute ticket and just showing up in a city to explore it. Ahhhhh…college days…
  • What embarrasses you?
People who speak with bad grammar. I honestly feel embarrassed for them!
  • What are some of your favorite websites?
The Pioneer Woman – Young House Love – Birth Without Fear
  • How would you explain your basic life philosophy?
The Golden Rule – Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Also, live your life through a lens of love, not fear.
  • Would you rather be hated or forgotten?
    Forgotten.
  • What do you like least about yourself?
I can be too blunt, especially in the heat of the moment. I’ve definitely come across as too harsh with my friends at times, and I regret that.
  • Do you have a favorite number? Any particular reason why you like that number?
    5. Simply because it’s always been a big number in my Mom’s family. No idea why!
  • If you could try out any job for a day, what would you like to try?
Any job in the international business field. It was my major in undergrad, and since I got sidelined on my way to grad school, I never ended up following that career path. I’d like to know if I could cut it in that field.
  • If you could go back in history, who would you like to meet?
    Jesus
  • How are you, really?
Spectacularly lucky & happy. Exhausted, but blessed.

How it works:
1. Include this icon in your post
2. Link to the blogger who nominated you (the awesome Mrs. T at A+ Effort)
3. Answer 10 questions about yourself
4. Nominate 10 other bloggers to answer 10 new questions
5. Tell the people that they’ve won

  • What’s the last thing you read?
Other than blogs? My Hypnobabies book! I need to start reading regular books again…someday.
  • Do you believe in soulmates?
Nope. I truly think there is more than one person out there who would have been the right guy for me depending on what path in life I chose. Also, if something ever happened to my husband or myself, I would like to think we could find love again with someone else!
  • What’s your favorite 80s movie?
    Top Gun!
  • Cats or dogs (or both or neither)?
Ugh, I used to say dogs, but I am so flipping sick of my dog that I’d say NEITHER now.
  • If you could go back in time to warn yourself that something was going to happen, would you?
I don’t think so. I’d rather not live my life in fear of what’s about to come. Then again, it’d be nice to be able to say I love you one last time to someone you knew you were going to lose much before their time.
  • Do you have any recurring dreams, and if so, what are they?
I dream from time to time that I’ve forgotten the combination to my high school locker (or forgotten altogether which one was my locker!). So weird when I can STILL tell you that #104 was my locker in the east wing in high school. NO idea what that means!
  • Aside from Twitter and Facebook, what website do you visit the most?
    WordPress. 🙂
  • What artist, band, show, movie, or book do you think is under-appreciated and want the rest of the world to know about?
Taking Charge of Your Fertility – it’s better known in the IF world, but I wholeheartedly believe it’s a book that ALL women should read while they’re teens (and again when they’re getting to the point of wanting to start a family). There’s so much I didn’t know about my body and my cycles pre-IF that it’s fairly astounding to me.
  • What movie or show from your childhood did you love… until you re-watched it as an adult and discovered it was horrible?
I know my husband feels like this about Labyrinth (which he made me watch for the first time with him last year!).
  • How did you find the online adoption, loss, or infertility community?
I was already blogging pre-IF, and when we started having issues, I started writing about them. A couple of other IF bloggers somehow found me and commented, so I commented back…and the rest is history!

  1. The only thing I have to say about this is that in your first paragraph, I read it as having “holiday tits.”

    And then I snickered, because I’m 12.

    1. I totally would have snickered too. I dunno, I may have holiday tits as well. They ARE getting pretty luscious thanks to this pregnancy.. 😉

  2. I love reading this sort of fun little fact thingie magiggy so I am definitely planning to respond to yours (and Miss T’s) questions sometime in the next… oh I don’t know… year?! Ugg. I need to blog again!!

We have a ‘family’ favourite number too… 3… it is my dad’s, my brother’s, mine and I may just suggest it to Lids 😉

  3. Thanks for participating! I like learning new things about people. And I always have the urge to answer the new questions at the bottom 😉 I really want to visit Dubrovnik, Croatia. The pictures there are so beautiful!

  4. Thanks for nominating me Jos! 🙂 Makes me feel so special. I can’t see myself having the time to do this post, although I’m dying to list random tidbits about myself. But I can’t pass up the opportunity to let you know how I found your blog since I normally do remember why I found a particular blog. Yours is special to me because you were the first non-IRL person that commented back on mine. 😀 Super neato.

I was reading Two Weeks Wait post about her not liking nicknames for fetuses, and you commented that your bun was named “Rockstar” because your husband wasn’t even there for the pregnancy to take place. I had to click over to your blog to read about this rockstar baby, and probably read all of your archives (at work :). Then on the way back from my first acupuncture appointment, I saw I had my FIRST follower that was a stranger and it was YOU.

I’m thankful for our friendship Hun, and am so lucky to have met you via the interwebs. Have a great Thanksgiving holiday with your cute little family.

    1. Josie was my first commenter and follower too (my blog isn’t open to IRL folks)!! 🙂 She is so wonderful at making new bloggers feel welcome, eh?! So glad we found her!

      1. Totally! 🙂

  5. Thanks for the link! I’ll definitely be playing along next week. Five is our family’s special number, too.

  6. […] Link to the blogger who nominated you (Josey at My Cheap Version of Therapy) 3. Answer 10 questions about yourself 4. Nominate 10 other bloggers to answer 10 new questions 5. […]

  7. I intend to do this (in the middle of the night 🙂 ) someday. It’s a perfect nursing task. In the meantime, I’ll just say I dint believe in soul mates either. I recently told a much younger friend that I thought that perspective was more romantic than the desperate “you’re the only one for me” alternative because it means I’m choosing my husband again and again without feeling like I NEED to.

    1. I love that take on it! So true.
