My original intent was to throw up a quick post with our most recent Christmas card on it, but then a few of my blogger friends posted a look back at their previous cards. I thought it was pretty cool idea and that I would like to do the same, though that dropped me into the rabbit hole of digging out old proofs and/or the cards themselves. Thanks to how difficult it was to get six years together, I’m actually really glad I have these all in one place now! However, I realize looking back over these that:
- I should probably start putting Stella’s age in parenthesis after her name – am I the only parent who has neglected to do this?
- Our life looks pretty damn idyllic if all you see is the annual Christmas card update.
That being said, it’s a pretty great reminder to me to take a step back and enjoy the moment we’re in. Life is pretty great, even when we’re sick and tired and stretched thin!

I actually sent cards most of the years from age 18-25 as well, though I sadly didn’t keep copies of those around (or if I did, I have no idea where they are). It’s already pretty fun to look back over the changes in my life with Charlie through the years though.

Love your Christmas card evolution, what a fun idea seeing them all in sequence like that!! Something I noticed this year (not sure why I’ve never noticed before) is that we are the only people (besides newlywed friends of ours) in our circle of friends and family that send out picture cards of just the two of us and our animals (as we don’t have kids yet). I love that you guys did this too! I LOVE our picture Christmas cards, we’ve done them since we were married in 2009. I don’t understand those that say their “family didn’t begin until they had kids”. That’s simply not true…..we are our family, and hope to be able to add on to it one day!
Oh gosh, that statement would drive me nuts! We were 100% a family before we had kids. Some of my favorite memories to look back at are of us as a couple and all of the fun things we did together pre-kids. I can’t wait to see the evolution of YOUR cards someday!

I loved seeing all of your cards!! How neat to see how things changed and grew over the years. So exciting! I especially love this year’s card and think I will love next year’s even more when your family of 4 are all featured (outside of womb! 😉 ).

I LOVE to send and receive Christmas cards! We’ve sent between 50-150 each year (depending on how much cash flow we had for cards & postage!) and received about 50 every year. Love it! 🙂
