40 Weeks, aka the Final 2ww

Wow… I can’t believe I just titled a post that! I’m officially 2 weeks more pregnant than I’ve ever been, which pretty much blows my mind. I had my weekly prenatal appointment yesterday at my midwife’s house, and I pretty much just sat on his couch moaning I can’t believe I’m still pregnant and here for another appointment while he laughed at me and told me the baby would come when he’s ready. Yeah yeah, I know I know. 🙂

I chose not to get my cervical dilation checked at my appointment yesterday because I was worried it would just be more of a mind fuck for me than anything. That number doesn’t tell you how soon active labor will start or how fast you’ll progress once it does, so I decided to hold off. If I get to 41 weeks (*sigh*) then I’ll get checked & probably do a membrane stripping at the same time (along with every other induction trick I can try!). We’re definitely hoping it doesn’t get to that, but that’s the plan. As long as little man comes before 42 weeks, we will still be good to go with the home birth. I’m not having any problems with swelling, protein in my urine, high BP, or anything like that, and little man has plenty of fluid & is bobbing around head down (in LOA position). All systems are a go… as soon as he is ready.

C’mon baby, we are ready to meet you!

It’s so awesome how at any moment he will let you know he’s ready!

  3. That dress is perfect for a belly photo! These are your best photos by far… So flattering. You just get CUTER!

Has he dropped? You sure look like you’re still carrying nice and high. I know Stella didn’t drop until you were in active labor, so maybe he won’t. My kids never dropped either. At least you have that going for you… You still look perky versus “you look so ready to go.”. Ha!

    1. Thanks! I’m running out of clothes that fit b/c I only bought a couple of maternity items and have mostly been stretching out my regular clothes. I wanted to wear something different in every picture though, so this dress it was! I bought it b/c it’s nursing friendly and I’m hoping it will get some good use this upcoming summer too. 🙂

I don’t think he’s dropped. I took my measurements this morning though, and my rib cage (right at bra line) is 1″ narrower than when I measured 2 weeks ago, so either I’m horrible at measuring or he has dropped out of my ribs a bit. Like you said, Stella never did drop, so we’ll see!

Well at least you look beautiful!

A friend of mine just went 10 days past her due date, and I think we ALL started to wonder if she’d be the first woman to ever stay pregnant forever 🙂

    Are you still working?

    1. You could call it that. 🙂 Yes…

  6. You look so cute in that dress! I have some long and short super soft ones from nursing 2 summers ago I LOVE! 🙂

My first was 42 wks (and we knew his EDD because of treatments) my second was 40 wks 5 days (same with her) and with my third he came on his own at barely 40 wks 2 days. So hoping this one comes a few days before 40 wks but mine like to cook haha! So while mine have gotten earlier and shorter labors knock on wood I can see why still being pregnant at 40 wks would make you want to pop this baby out 😉

  7. All the best with your delivery!

  8. Gosh, you’re a gorgeous lady! The final 2WW…has a nice ring to it. Although, I hope it’s NOT two weeks! Thinking of you every 5-10 minutes 🙂

I hope that he comes in the next week, I’m anxious to hear how your home birth goes! You still look great though! Where did you get that dress? I LOVE it, and it’s nursing friendly which is awesome. Any day now!

    1. Old Navy! http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=91340&vid=1&pid=938896002 Looks like they only have a cpl of colors left, but yes, super comfy dress!

  10. I wore that same dress in my maternity pics. I’d continue to wear it if it didn’t have the high waist and make me look six months pregnant now, ha! I know you’re ready, and probably watching the clock as the hours go by wondering when will it be time, but you are so so close!! I think it’s pretty cool that you made it 40 weeks, his due date. maybe he’ll decide to come today after all!

  11. Ahh, my original comment got eaten! Anyway, I was just saying I wore that same dress for my maternity pics and loved how comfy it was. I’d still wear it if it didn’t make me look six months pregnant! You are probably staring at the clock wondering when will it be time, but you are so so close!! And I think it’s pretty cool that you made it to 40 weeks, his due date. Who knows, there is still time for this to be his actual due date! 🙂

    1. Wait, there it is! Sorry for the multiple comments after all!

    2. For some reason I’m having to moderate a bunch of people’s comments this week – even people who regularly comment on my blog. Weird!

  12. Hope he comes soon for you!

  13. I hope when you look in the mirror you see what a gorgeous woman you are – I love the image in your last post of the ship with full sails. But I still think of a rose in full bloom. So beautiful.

    1. Thanks Trish. 🙂 I honestly feel really good right now. I feel like I have a bowling ball in my belly and it’s hard to put my shoes on, but I feel beautiful. It’s rare for me to be happy with my body, so I’m enjoying this while I can before I have a deflated belly & crashing post partum hormones to contend with!

  14. Yay! So close! And have you seen this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fp6CQaA5yIo

    1. LOL, yes! I love it so much!!

  15. Looking wonderful…anytime now! So exciting.

  16. Love the photos this week. You look so beautiful at 40 WEEKS!! And that dress is perfect on you. I can’t believe you are here. Really hoping you don’t have to get to the point of ‘trying everything’ and baby just comes on his own in the next couple of days!! We’re all ready for you baby boy!!! 🙂

  17. Josey, you’re always gorgeous, but the most recent photos of you have been sooo beautiful! Pregnancy really suits you! Hope your wee man joins you really soon xx
