They’re Always Watching

I have definitely felt lately like we’re at the height of the imitation phase with Stella. Everything I do, she wants to do, and I realized today that extends to working out (DUH, right?).

I had planned on doing Day 2 of the 30 Day Shred during nap time (have I mentioned yet that my body already HURTS from this? oweeee!), but as usual time got away from me. I had just put Harvey down when Stella woke up, so I decided to give it a shot while she was in the living room with me. It turns out she loved it, and she wanted to be involved the entire time. When I first started doing jumping jacks during the warm-up, our conversation went something like this:

Mama, whatchu doing?

Jumping jacks! Can you do them?

[Silence…] Hm…. I can TRY!

Well, damn kid. Way to inspire me.

She proceeded to do jumping jacks…

and crunches…

and punches…

and leg lifts…

and she even worked in her obliques! 🙂

It was a totally awesome reminder of how our kids learn from us, and the entire workout was filled with exclamations like “Wee! This is fun!” (usually said during the butt kicks and jumping jacks), and “I did it!”

Yes kid, yes you did. Thank you for inspiring your Mama today. <3
