Summer is here!

As most of you know, I live in a really rural area of Colorado in the middle of the Rocky Mountains. Both the town I live in and the town 10 miles down the road have populations of about 1,000 people, and there are 4,000 people in the entire county…so when I say “small town” – I mean a small town. Not 30,000 people. 🙂

At any rate, the two local communities started a really cool summer concert series 5 years ago that is free to attend and supported entirely by community donations. The music is a great mix, with acts playing everything from bluegrass to folk, funk, swing, country, alt-country, jazz, or any combination of those styles, and there are beer and food tents galore. In short, it’s a great time!

Every Thursday in June the concerts are in the town 10 miles down the road, and every Thursday in July the concerts are in our town. This means that Friday morning always comes a little too early, but it’s sure fun to get out, chat with friends, listen to some good music, and take in the scene.

Daddy looks happy <3 Is Harvey sitting up?

    1. He was standing holding onto my fingers in that picture, but ya, he’s starting to sit for a little bit at a time before toppling over!

  2. Someday I will come to this event!! Looks like so much fun! 🙂

  3. Looks great and lots of fun! Nice way for people to gather!
How old was Harvey when you took him out for the first time?

    1. Itty bitty. I was never a 40 days in the house person after the kids were born. I can’t remember the 1st time I left the house with him, but I know we went to church when he was 1 week old exactly, so at least by then! I just wore him in a sling against my chest to keep people’s grubby hands off of him. 🙂

Oh I love that! I would so be at those concerts every single week! (And now I feel embarrassed about every single time I have ever called Anchorage small.)

    1. LOL, I grew up in the country outside a town of 300 people. Now I live in a town of 1,000 people. It’s so weird to me when ppl say “I live in a small town” and they mean 10k+ people!!
