MILF Check-In: 6.5 Months Postpartum

On a whim this morning I decided to change the name of my weight loss/fitness check-in posts. For nearly 5 years I’ve called them WWW (Weekly Wednesday Weigh-ins), but I rarely write these on Wednesdays anymore, and I want the focus to be more on total body fitness than just weight and weight loss, so it was time for a change. I’ve seen the MILF acronym around the internet lately (as in Moms In Love with Fitness), and I kinda like it. 🙂

Without further ado, here is my MILF check-in at 6.5 months postpartum!

Please excuse the horrid wallpaper in the bathroom at my office!

My goal for 6 months pp was to lose all of the baby weight (done!) and to get back into the 150s (so close! 160.2#). By the following weekend – which also happened to be our 6 year wedding anniversary – I finally saw that elusive 5 on the scale – 159.6#! I was able to stay in the 159# range for over a week, and then somehow I jumped back up a few pounds, even though I’ve been doing very well with my food tracking and exercise. This morning I was back down to 159.0#, and though my ultimate goal is to get to a toned 150#, I am beyond happy to finally be in the 150s. My clothes are already fitting SO much better, and with some toning and a few more pounds of weight loss, I know I will feel strong and happy and confident in my body again for the first time in 4 years.

So here’s the deal – we leave tomorrow for vacation for 10 days. THIS IS AWESOME. However, eating & drinking on vacation almost always causes weight gain, and I REALLY DO NOT WANT TO LOSE THOSE POUNDS ALL OVER AGAIN.

So I made a plan.

I’m bringing my tennis shoes & my sports bras, and I WILL work out while on vacation. I will eat mindfully (no binge eating chips, for example), yet I will enjoy myself (beer me!). I was going to lend my FitBit to my husband for a week (this coming Monday-Sunday) because he will be flying back to go to work and I will be spending a lot of time lounging by the pool and at the lake. Since my FitBit One isn’t waterproof, I was thinking it’d be a fun week to see how many steps my husband takes since he’s always bragging about how much he thinks he walks at work. That being said – I just don’t think I can part with it! I think I’ll keep it for the week like usual and use it to motivate me to really get my steps in first thing in the morning before being in the water the rest of the day. My sister has already sent me a few workouts she wants to do on Saturday and Sunday, and while I’m at the lake with my girlfriends I’m going to try to talk Kristy into doing a few workouts with me as well.

Wish me luck (err… motivation)!

I’ve thought about letting McMister use my FitBit before bc he thinks he gets soooo many steps at tennis boot camp that he gets more in that hour than I do all day. I can’t part with it either though 🙂 Have fun on your trip, and I’ll be watching you on the FitBit!

  2. Have fun! Nothing better than MN lakes in the summertime!!

  3. Congrats on hitting your goal!! You can do this, going on vacation and maintaining everything you do at home. You have a plan in place, you’re motivated, I’m sure people who are with you will help to keep you on track if you want them to, yay!

  4. Great plan! It’s really hard to workout while on vacation. I primarily do classes at the gym, so vacation poses a real problem for me. I’m glad you’re prepared!

I get my Garmin Vivofit tomorrow and I cannot wait! I’m anxious to see my REAL daily activity!

    I saw MILF and thought… Hmmm…

    1. I giggled at the old MILF connotation in my head as well. 🙂

      1. Who says it’s old? Maybe WE’RE old and just assume it no longer means that. Ha!

Either way, I can’t get myself to use it in writing!!

  5. Good for you!!! Good luck with your plan while on vacation, you got this!! LOL about letting your husband borrow your FitBit. I don’t think I’d be able to part with mine either.

    1. I have nominated you for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award. Check out all of the details in my post: https://infertilitywhyme.wordpress.com/2014/08/01/very-inspiring-blogger-award/

  6. Yeh I read MILF and do not get your acronym!!!!!!

  7. Omg I love the MiLF acronym! Good for you for already losing that baby weight! I still have that dreaded 10lbs to go. I really need to get back to portion control. I’ve been proud of my step count lately, but I know I’ll lose more baby weight if I can control my portions.

  8. I am in!! I was hoping to get a couple of runs in too so we will have to motivate each other before the day drinking starts.

    1. Awesome! Please don’t kick my ass too badly, mmm’kay?

  9. MILF. *giggle*
Sounds like you’re making great progress!

  10. Have fun on vacation!!!

  11. Haha! Way to take back that acronym. 🙂 Congrats on losing all the baby weight!

  12. Can’t stop giggling about this! Love it. 😉

  13. I love it! I just saw tank tops with that same saying. I want one! You look great!
