Proper Motivation

I have a ton I need to write on sleep regarding both kids (aka – trying to get Harv to sleep through the night more often, how to get Stella to not wake up crying & afraid in her big girl bed, and how sharing a room is going), but I just had to share this picture with you all today. Yesterday on my day off I totally screwed up nap time by taking a long walk too close to nap – both kids ended up sleeping the final 30 minutes in the stroller (from 11:30-12) which is NO GOOD when they both normally nap from 12:30-3:30. Stella never did end up napping again (#momfail) but Harv went down for about an hour snooze around 2pm. When he woke up, Stella ran upstairs to greet him like always – she LOOOVES to run in and say, “Good morning, Harv! MOMMMM – HE’S AWAKE!!!!!”

By the time I got upstairs a minute later, I found her in bed with him, jumping around, chatting, giggling, and getting into his space. He loves it.

For 32 months she slept in that crib, and other than the 1 time she ATE SHIT when she tried to get out last Thanksgiving at 23 months old, she has NEVER been able to get in or out of that crib on her own, and in all honesty, we never encouraged her to learn how. 6 days into her brother sleeping in that crib, she has no problem getting in and out on her own. I guess she just needed the proper motivation. 🙂

  1. So funny, Matthew was the same way! He never tried to get out or in until Bryson was in there and it looked like fun to him. Bryson, on the other hand, is already trying to get out.

Those Midnight wake ups are horrid when they’re transitioning beds. Ours lasted just a week but OMG I was so tired!

Way to go with what sounds like a damn good transition for everyone! Very cute pics 🙂 And look at the little man pulling up!

  3. Lol, what a funny picture!! It’s so cute seeing them play together so well.

  4. The perfect climber pose. In predict the next photos like this will be on a rock face (you live in Colorado after all). 😉

So funny! Love it! Proper motivation indeed!

  6. Ha! So cute…

  7. That scene looks familiar! Except I’m quite confident that Taylor still can’t get in and out of a crib, but that isn’t motivation, it’s lack of athleticism. 🙂

    1. Ha! This morning I walked in to find her in his crib with ALL of her blankets and toys. SMH.

  8. I have had a post written for two weeks now on how our transition has gone, but I have not found the time to add the pictures. Must do that this weekend! Chloe still has yet to try to climb out, thank goodness.
