WWW…er…Another MILF Post?

I might be going back to WWW instead of MILF (Weekly Wednesday Weigh-Ins vs. Mom in Love with Fitness) for the titles of these posts. I dunno. Thoughts? I just have a hard time wrapping my mind around the new MILF acronym instead of the old one. 🙂

At any rate, I just wanted to check in to say that I’m stick kicking ass with my workout challenge to myself (tracking it here), and I am SO happy about that! Today I want to give a shout out to two blog friends who have recently really kicked their health and fitness into gear, and it’s really been inspiring me and motivating me to keep at this.

The first woman lost 25# over the past 4 months by counting calories on MFP, working out almost daily, and making a conscious effort to walk more. She went from 170.5# to 145#, which is almost the exact same journey I’m on, and we’re built very similarly. When she wrote this post back in May, I was up to about 168# myself, and I could so identify with everything she wrote about feeling overwhelmed even thinking about the prospect of trying to lose 20-30#.  However, she is just a couple of months further along the postpartum journey than I am, and it gives me hope that if I stick with this, I too will see those numbers on the scale continue to drop!

The other blogger went for a more drastic lifestyle change by doing an intensive boot camp and paleo lifestyle, and 12 weeks into the process she has already dropped 27# from 180.6# to 153.6#, with an end goal of 142.6#, for a total of a 38# loss. It really is all about what you end and how much you move your body, you know?

Honestly, a few months ago I was feeling very complacent and sort of resigned to this “new body” of mine, and feeling like no matter how hard I worked it wouldn’t make much of a difference. Watching these two women who are in similar situations as me (in their 30s with 2 kids) completely transform their bodies has been incredibly motivating, and it makes me want to really stick with this and feel GOOD in my body again. I’m already so much closer than I was just a couple short months ago. I can finally wear some of my clothes from 4 years ago (when I weighed 151# and had been working out a ton to lose 20#), and that feels fantastic!

Also, thanks to my Fitbit friends not walking as much and me walking more lately, I somehow saw my name in 2nd place yesterday for the first time in a LONG time and over 80k for the first time ever. Wahoo!

  1. Thanks for the shout-out! I’m not sure I’ll hit 142 or even 145, for that matter. When I was 144, it was soooooo hard to maintain. But we’ll see! I’m definitely shooting for it!

I just checked your status page last night and damn – you’re doing great! Keep on keeping on is how I see it. I say that today as I’m exhausted from too much impact yesterday. Gah!

I can’t get with the MILF acronym, simply because the “old” one is still alive and well! My sister once called herself a MILF (believe me, she is NOT one – lots of unwarranted self-esteem in that one!) and I just hate that acronym now. 😉

  2. Wow, good for you!! My fit bit was really sad today, I’m near the bottom of my rank with such a low number….I know I need to start moving more, even if it’s just walking!!! It sounds like you’ve really got the determination this time to make this happen, and I’m happy for you! Keep up the hard work!

  3. Thanks for sharing their stories! I love finding new blogs that are moms on the same journey I am. We need to be Fitbit friends! I love someone who motivates me to keep my butt moving!

  4. I like WWW better bc I’m terrified of change 🙂 Great work on the health, as always.

  5. Pfttt…that was central time. I still had two more hours to catch up LOL

You have been killing it lately lady! I like the WWW. I just keep thinking MILF in the American Pie kinda way when I see the new acronym.

    1. Ha – I’m in mountain time, and your number hadn’t moved in forever so i counted it as a win. 😉

  6. Yes Josie! I could definitely identify with your feelings! I felt the same way after my two kids and hitting 30… I finally decided to start putting in the time for myself! Since I started working out almost everyday and eating better, I have lost 32 pounds since the end of April. Still have 20 more to go!!

  7. Thanks for the shout out! I have really appreciated being on this journey with you and other bloggers that I know. It has made staying the course a lot easier. I am impressed with how you are rocking your boot camp challenge. I hope Shredded in 30 makes a good addition. I’m still doing the first workout because I like it so much–and my favorite parts? That you can play it in Spanish and that you can put on subtitles for when you’re trying not to wake up your sleeping baby… 😉

  8. Needed to read this today! Keep up the great work.

    1. Glad to be of help. I hope you can carve out some time in your day for exercise again – it will definitely help you to clear your head and feel better about everything!

Nice job! By the way, just as other bloggers inspired you to get a move on, your blog was one that inspired me. I’m happy to say I’m down 20 pounds since February of this year so far 🙂

    1. Yay! I love hearing stories like this. Way to go!

  10. You’ve also been inspiring me to try and move more! Fitbit brings out the competitor in me, so that helps too 😉
