Last Wednesday on my “day off” I had about 8 million errands to run. I was gone for 9 hours, drove 200 miles, and stopped at 9 different establishments, all with 2 kids in tow. EEP! Thankfully the kids did great, and when we walked into the grocery store about 3pm, Stella talked me into using the cart that I’ve avoided like the plague for the first 32 years of my life.
Honestly, they LOVED IT. It’s still attached to a full sized cart so I had plenty of room for the two week’s worth of groceries we tend to buy at once, and the kids were at my eye level, happy as clams. 
When I got home that night, utterly exhausted, Charlie said something along the lines of “JOS – you didn’t remember the potato salad or the trash bags!” All I heard was “I AM AN UNGRATEFUL WRETCH WHO GOT TO HAVE A RELAXING DAY AT WORK TODAY SO NOW I WILL GET UPSET OVER STUPID SHIT WITH MY WIFE.”
Yep, that went over well.

Ar any rate, that meant we had to head BACK to town on Saturday morning (it’s about 30 minutes away) to do more errands, including another stop at the grocery store for the GODDAMNPOTATOSALAD. This time Stella talked us into using the big car cart (which I hate trying to navigate in the aisles with the fiery passion of 1000 suns), and once again, the kids loved it.
I guess at this point I’m going to have to weigh the pros and cons of happy kids in the grocery store vs. pushing a behemoth of a cart around the store for an hour. I have a feeling what the winner will be in this epic battle.

I was full of grocery rage this morning when Matthew insisted on pushing “the little green cart” which is his size, too fast, and a pain in my ass. I hate it with the “fiery passion of 1000 suns.”. I gave in, got frustrated, and then transferred him to a car cart just to get two boxes of mini muffins for school. Good god!
You get used to it 🙂 They look happy and adorable.

Ha, I don’t give a shit about potato salad, hence why it was low on my list of things to remember when I bought a crap load of other groceries. Charlie, on the other hand, LOVES his potato salad.
FWIW, I also made him take the kids into Home Depot by himself while I went shopping for a dress for this weekend ALONE, so it wasn’t an entirely wasted trip. 🙂

My head hurts, Josey. Because now I have zero excuse for not doing the grocery shopping (previously it was “but I have two to worry about”). At least they’re happy. Now you just need to find a grocery store that had some bumpy floors. 😉
Oh my god. You are amazing. I get nervous to bring my ONE kid to Target, three minutes down the street! She’s terrible at stores though. Hates shopping.

Yep, we ventured into using the “boat” for the first time a few weeks ago and the kids loved it! I haven’t done the one with the car yet (we shop at Walmart and they don’t have those) but I have a feeling one we move and go to a different store, we’ll be right there with ya. And 9 hours, 200 miles, for errands?!?! Wow!!
I tried one of those carts at Target yesterday! G loved it, but I still had to put L in the kid seat on the cart and it didn’t have a strap to hold him up (WTF is up with that?), so we had to switch over to a regular cart. G was not happy with that.
I am not a fan. It was hard to steer that thing into the store, so I can’t imagine it would have been fun steering it between aisles. But I agree, I may not like it but if it keeps the boys happy while I shop then I’ll put up with it.
I only use those carts when I am with my husband because my older 3 fight over it and I make them take turns lol 😉 (2.5, 4 and 5)
Usually I grocery shop when I just have the baby who is 8 months, or when I have him and his 2.5 year old brother. We somehow manage to get it done and come out alive! Anything is easier than taking all 4 to the store 😉 Luckily with K and preK in session that isn’t very often!
