The Monday Snapshot – Grocery Store Fun

Last Wednesday on my “day off” I had about 8 million errands to run. I was gone for 9 hours, drove 200 miles, and stopped at 9 different establishments, all with 2 kids in tow. EEP! Thankfully the kids did great, and when we walked into the grocery store about 3pm, Stella talked me into using the cart that I’ve avoided like the plague for the first 32 years of my life.

Honestly, they LOVED IT. It’s still attached to a full sized cart so I had plenty of room for the two week’s worth of groceries we tend to buy at once, and the kids were at my eye level, happy as clams. When I got home that night, utterly exhausted, Charlie said something along the lines of “JOS – you didn’t remember the potato salad or the trash bags!” All I heard was “I AM AN UNGRATEFUL WRETCH WHO GOT TO HAVE A RELAXING DAY AT WORK TODAY SO NOW I WILL GET UPSET OVER STUPID SHIT WITH MY WIFE.”

Yep, that went over well.

Ha. 😉

Ar any rate, that meant we had to head BACK to town on Saturday morning (it’s about 30 minutes away) to do more errands, including another stop at the grocery store for the GODDAMNPOTATOSALAD. This time Stella talked us into using the big car cart (which I hate trying to navigate in the aisles with the fiery passion of 1000 suns), and once again, the kids loved it.

I guess at this point I’m going to have to weigh the pros and cons of happy kids in the grocery store vs. pushing a behemoth of a cart around the store for an hour. I have a feeling what the winner will be in this epic battle.
