The Puking Kid

You know that time that you gave your kid cottage cheese and milk for breakfast, even though you KNEW it was a bad idea, just because she asked for it and you didn’t feel like arguing about it?

Yeah, and then she puked it all over the counter and cried?

That was my morning.

****

You know that time you prayed it was a fluke thing that your kid puked at breakfast, and then you got a call at 10am from your Nanny saying “we have a puker – please come home NOW!”

Yeah, that was me this morning.

****

I walked into the house (3 min from my work) to find Margi trying to strip down Harvey because Stella had been HOLDING him and feeding a bottle to him when she vomited this time. He was covered, she was covered, the couch and floor were covered. It was a scene. The dog was trying to eat it, Harv was pissed b/c he was still hungry and he was covered in puke, Stella was in awe of the puddle of puke she was sitting in on our leather couch, and Margi was trying to hold it together, because “give me diarrhea all day long, but puke… [insert image of her turning green here].”

Yeah, so that was my morning.

****

I’m about to head home for a quick bite to eat before a big meeting at 12:30, and I’m just praying that Stella’s tummy has settled and there is no more puking today.

Ugh.

The joys of parenthood.

It’s a good thing they’re cute, right?

Post-puke #1, pre-puke #2. Practicing her fish face while wearing her chef hat. :)

— ps, I just noticed Harv holding the remote like a boss in the background. WTF? Kids are growing up too fast…

This is what I saw when I walked in the door at home. Poor kid…

  1. Ugh, thankfully (knock on all the wood around me) my kids aren’t pukers because that is one thing I can’t handle either. I’ve done surprisingly better than I thought I would the few times it’s happened with C, but whew! No fun for anyone. I hope everyone is on the mend in your house stat!

  2. Poor little thing, sorry you’ve got a sick little one….I hope Harvey doesn’t get sick too.

  3. Ugh sorry to hear!

We had a pukincident (that’s a word right?) two Sundays ago where Taylor managed to puke an INCREDIBLE amount all over herself, her carseat, the seat in front of her and the car floor. Andy was driving so I jumped into the back, grabbed a car towel (a necessity when you have kids) and just covered her disaster until we got home 10 mins later. My favorite part? Sticking my hand into the pile of vomit to get to her carseat buckle. OMG.

    Yes, lucky they are cute.

      Wow, that was disgusting :/

  4. Good luck, friend! We’ve only had puking once, and it was AWFUL. Every bed got new sheets twice that night.

  5. Ugh. Sorry to hear it! I have a piker. My three-year-old gets carsick sometimes. It hits out of nowhere and the only sign is that he randomly starts to cry the moment before he barfs. I’ve gotten quite skilled at contorting my body and catching it in whatever container I can find (even a Starbucks cup once – so gross!) Hope she feels better soon!

  6. Poor thing!!

Poor girl 🙁 I always take pics of my kids laying sick on the couch; I can’t help myself! Harvey holding the remote and your comment made me LOL.

  8. Aww poor Stella… well poor all of you because puke is no fun!! We have had very few pukindients around here (totally a word, Shannon) so far.. I think only 2 or 3 times and never a lot or in an awkward place like a car seat… or on a sibling! 😉 I am sure we have our fair share of those in the future though and I am not looking forward to them but I guess it will be pay back for the many many many times I puked in our car as a child, and everyone else’s car I entered! :/ Couldn’t make it more than 30 minutes before the motion sickness would hit! Uggg. Hope Stella is feeling much better in the morning!!

  9. Ewwwww! We have a sicky here too, but no puking, thank goodness. Before I read your caption, I was trying to figure out if it was Harv holding the remote. Hope the rest of you stay well through her illness.

  10. We have just come out of a whole week of Noro virus highly contagious -we all got it. Toby vomited for 4 days god it was everwhere and awful. Hopefully Stella will just have a 24 hour bug. Good luck!

  11. oh no! I hope she starts feeling better soon.
