WWW – Post Thanksgiving Binge Week

So I’m sick, again. Strep throat this time (not the recurring, horrible full body illness I’ve been having the last few months, thank God), but still, I am over this! Yesterday I felt like death & like I had razor blades in my throat. It’s like my body cannot handle a few days of drinking and late nights like it used to pre-kids when I was in my 20s. Weird, right? 😉 Sleep deprivation = weakened immune system. Yep. #SoNoted

At any rate, as fun as it was to have some drinks and stay up late chatting with friends and family this past week, I am back on the healthy living train. My goal is to be very good to my body until we go to MN on the 19th, and then continue to be good to my body (while having some fun with family & friends in MN) over those next 11 days.

  • Last Wed – 157.4#
  • Last Sunday – 161.9#
  • Today – 158.3#

After being up 4.5# by last weekend, overall I’m only up 0.7# from a week that included eating & drinking & sleeping out of the norm nearly every single night, so I’ll take it.

On the upside – I slept for over 11 hours last night (7:15-6:30). Insane — and much needed. It’s the best sleep I’ve had in months, and it’s the best sleep the kids have had on the same night in months (Harv has been on the 4:15 up for the day routine lately and it’s killing me!). Stella slept from 8pm-6:45am and Harvey from 7pm – 7:15am last night. It’s amazing how rejuvenating it is to get some good, unbroken sleep. I tossed and turned a bit at 11 because my throat was hurting, but that’s the only time I remember moving all night!

My goals for the next 4 weeks to finish out 2014:

  • Get my step count back up – at least 7,500 steps/day (currently at about 5,000)
  • Work out 3x/week (currently at zero after doing so well at 5-6 so for long)
  • Track my food while in CO – eat mindfully while in MN & track if possible
  • Sleep at least 8 hrs/night. This is partially dependent upon the kids, partially dependent upon me going to bed early enough to make it happen. Sleep is so important to health though, and I’ve been letting that slide!
  • Keep my weight in the 157-158# range. Once Harvey hits 1 year on Jan 12th & I’m not worried about my milk supply, I’m going to ramp up on my weight loss & fitness goals though!
Feeling good at this weight, but I'm not done yet!

Feeling good at this weight with a fresh new hair cut & color, but I’m not done yet!

How about you? What are you doing to keep from gaining the American standard 5# during the holidays?

  1. You know what I’m doing!

I think you look AWESOME! And yeah, 0.7 pounds over Thanksgiving is something to be proud of!

  2. You look great! I just heard yesterday that someone we know told a friend of ours (that person’s daughter-in-law) that they thought I was for sure done having kids bc I look thinner than I did between any of my other pregnancies. That I must’ve just not tried to get back to normal between the others since I was just going to get pregnant again. Well, one, that thought never once crossed my mind, two, I don’t have the willpower to affect my weightloss that much, and three, I don’t weigh any less right now than I did after Gracie or Lyla haha. I wasn’t offended, just thought it was funny how much someone can read into things 🙂

    1. WTF? People say the weirdest shit, don’t they?

  3. Yay for a full night’s sleep. OMG I dream of it. But so sorry to hear that you are sick. Sounds like you have a good plan. I just realized, I’ve been getting these recurring full-body mastitis-flu like things every 4-8 weeks as well – like being hit by a dump truck with a wicked headache. Not mastitis though, but feels like it. Is this something like what you are feeling? It usually goes away in 24 hrs but I need to take a lot of tylenol and I am super out of commission. If so we should chat. I had blood work and everything came back OK.

    1. That sounds very similar to the shit I’ve been getting! My labs were normal too. GAH!

  4. You look great! Keep it up!

  5. You look amazing! Sorry you’re sick and I hope you feel better soon.

  6. You look great!!! Almost to Harvey’s 1st birthday already!!

  7. You look amazing!! And getting an 11 hour sleep stretch? Nice!!

I was sick over Thanksgiving, so that helped maintain my weight. But now that I’m feeling better? Gah. I want all the foods!

I hope you feel better soon!

    1. Ya, being sick definitely helped me drop a cpl pounds. No beer + it hurt to eat = a quick shedding of some bloating!

  8. Shred Shred Shred. That’s what I’ll be doing to offset all the cookies. Mmmmmmmm…cookies……….

My current weight loss plan is home (specifically kitchen) renovation.. ha! Seriously though, it’s a ton of work so I have less time to sit around snacking. And since I currently have no kitchen, I had to plan a couple weeks’ worth of freeze-ahead crockpot meals. Planning ahead (for any reason) is really crucial for my being able to stay on a healthy eating plan. Hope you feel better soon. And I second the sleep goal!

  10. you look fantastic Josey!! xo
