Late Season Walks

I’m not gonna lie, it’s hard for me to motivate to take the kids on long walks when it’s cold out. I live in the middle of the mountains in Colorado at about 7,000′ elevation, and usually when it snows here, it really snows. Getting that bundled up to struggle to push a double stroller through the mountains of snow… meh. No thanks.

Luckily for me and my exercise plan, the snow we’ve gotten thus far all decided to melt away, and we were able to take a gorgeous family walk together on Sunday that we timed around the kids’ midday nap. We did a 5 mile loop that took us by the local park (where Jaime’s memorial bench is located – decorated for Christmas by my MIL) and around the edge of town and back home. Not too shabby of a day for December 7th in the mountains!

  1. I wish my kids would fall asleep in their stroller! They both pretty much refuse to sleep anywhere other than their beds, but I guess I shouldn’t complain too much about that. The bench looks perfectly decorated for the holidays! And we love to take advantage of any nice days we get lately.

  2. Oh , I need to walk! Everleigh has been saying no park, and I take the opportunity to stay home but it does is both a world of good to get out! That’s great they both napped in their stroller!

You’re so nice for letting Stella wear her fancy dress 🙂

  4. I love Harvey’s hair! And the wreaths on Jaime’s bench.

  5. Is it weird to not have much snow yet or does it usually come later in the season? Gosh i am a shocker I have been the queen of procrastinating these days!

    1. Very weird! Our highest snow months are definitely Feb/March, but still, VERY weird to be able to walk outside in shorts right now!

  6. I love that bench. such a wonderful tribute to Jaime. I feel so lucky with the weather we’ve had the last few months. A little worried that we’re going to pay for it over the winter though!

  7. Man, you live in such a beautiful place!! Looks like a fabulous walk. The second picture of the two kids at the top of the slide is so cute. I can imagine her saying, as Sofia would, “C’mon, Harv!” I was going to say that picture was my favorite, until I got to the end and saw the double nap on the go picture. THAT is my favorite.
