Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award

img_1003I haven’t received (or done!) a blogging award in over a year, and since I really enjoy learning random facts about my fellow bloggers & I’m guessing most of you feel the same way, I’m excited that Lauren nominated me for the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award in order to motivate me to write another one of these miscellaneous posts. 🙂

The Rules:

Link to the person who nominated you.
Add the award logo.
Answer the questions your nominator asked.
Nominate 10 other blogs.
Ask your nominees 10 questions.

So here we go – my answers first!

  • What is something you are really good at?
    • Making friends. I’m a social person and I love to chat with people, and I consider it a blessing that no matter where I go, I find it easy to strike up conversations and eventually find my core group of close friends to hang out with.
  • What do you wish you were better at?
    • Failure. Seriously. Following through on things is hard when I’m so afraid of failing. Sometimes it’s easier for me to exist in limbo land and not have to face failure if I actually give it a go and try to dedicate myself to something (health, career, etc), and that’s incredibly frustrating.
  • What has your loss / infertility journey taught you about life?
    • My Mom just sent me this quote last week, and it pretty much sums it up for me:
Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always.
  • Paper diary or digital calendar?
    • Digital calendar, all the way! It’s how my husband, Nanny, and myself can all be on the same page just by glancing at our phones.
  • Where did you meet your other half?
    • The local bar after work. I had just finished my shift at the local restaurant, so it was 10pm on a Friday night when I rolled in dead sober. He had been sitting there for hours drinking with his buddy (remember, we were 22/23 years old!), and his first impression was… not so stellar. He spent weeks winning me back after that by coming into my restaurant every night when I worked and sitting at my bar to flirt and tip me well. LOL
  • What are you wearing right now?
    • My awesome new boots, skinny jeans, a black t-shirt, and a scarf. Pretty much my standard outfit lately.
  • When did you discover you could write?
    • Hm… I’m not sure? I had diaries on and off throughout Jr. High, High School, and University, and I was always good at writing papers and short stories for school. It wasn’t until I started this blog nearly 6 years ago that I really started enjoying the story telling aspect of writing though. It’s very therapeutic for me… hence the blog name!
  • What is your favourite time of day, and why?
    • Evenings, hands down. Even though I tend to be exhausted after 9pm now days thanks to the kiddos, it’s still my natural time of day to be active and social. My circadian rhythm is definitely skewed towards late night like my late Grandpa Gene. Even at 87 years old, he was still staying up super late and sleeping late, and that would 100% be my preference again someday!
  • What piece of wisdom would you give your ten-year-old self?
    • Savor every minute of that time you get to play with your siblings and be close to your cousins, aunts & uncles, & grandparents. Realize that isn’t the norm for most people, and it’s such a gift to have that time with those you love. Family is forever.
  • What’s the farthest from home you’ve travelled?
    • Hm… probably Australia? I lived in France for awhile and traveled all over there, and I’ve been to Norway and Jamaica, but my trip to Australia in 2006 was probably the furthest from home (Minnesota/Colorado) that I’ve been. It was SUCH a fantastic trip, though two weeks only allowed me to barely scratch the surface of that continent. It’s HUGE!

The 10 blogs I nominate are:

(my 5 top commenters + 5 others I thought it’d be fun to hear from!)

The 10 questions I’m asking are:

  1. What is your favorite part of blogging?
  2. Do you have siblings, and if so, are you close?
  3. Beer, wine, liquor, or none of the above?
  4. What’s your favorite season of the year?
  5. What’s your favorite outdoor activity?
  6. Do you have a favorite place you have traveled?
  7. Are you planning any fun trips this year?
  8. What state/country do you live in & why? (were you born there & love it or did you move there for a reason)
  9. What’s your favorite / preferred type of exercise?
  10. How did you find my blog? (if you even remember!)

  1. Yay for an award! I love reading these sort of posts.

I also love the story about how you and Charlie got together 🙂

    1. You should do it too! It’s always a shot in the dark when you nominate people. 😉 Consider yourself nominated!

I always love reading these things!

I had a huge smile on my face reading how you and Charlie met. As kind of an opposite of that, my mom used to park in my dad’s rental car parking lot for work and not pay. My dad just kept ticketing her Hahahaha.

    1. LOL, that is an awesome story!

  3. Aw, thanks! I better get my shiz together and do this. Would be fun!

Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always. — I saw this in FB last year and I love it. So true.

Love what you have to say about spending time with family. And can’t get enough you and charlie stories. 🙂

  4. Thanks for the shoutout! Will totally do this. It’s always fun to learn something new. That’s a great quote.
