The Monday Snapshot – 21 Day Fix Edition

My 21 Day Fix Challenge started yesterday, and so far so good! I’m loving the food and getting a hang of the prep work required. The workout this morning kicked my butt, but in a good way (and probably in no small part because it was 5:30am – ick!). 21 days of clean eating, no alcohol, and hard workouts – I can do this. I *WILL* do this!

Is Charlie doing it with you? If not, is he going to hide his beers and dirty-eating food? 😉

    1. Well, he skips breakfast, brings the same lunch to work every day, and eats whatever I cook for dinner, so that part is not a big deal 🙂 as for beer… I’m not sure. I haven’t asked him to not buy it, but he hasn’t bought more since the weekend, so I’m guessing he will just have a cpl beers at work if he’s thirsty and have water at home with me. We drink different beer anyway, so it’s not so hard to have his beer in the house either way. It would be nice if he did it with me though!

I just re-started the workouts from the Fix today too! I didn’t have time over the weekend to do the necessary grocery shopping and prep, and I have a couple of meals in the next week or so that aren’t going to be up to me. So I probably won’t follow the diet 100% correctly, but am going to try! Good luck to you!

    1. Thanks – you too! I’m excited to see what I can do in 3 weeks!

  5. Oh man… Good luck! I really need to do something to curb my sugar habit but I’m just so nervous to take the plunge. I’ll look forward to following your progress!

    1. I love that it has a set amount of time. I can do anything for 3 weeks – even give up beer and (most) cheese. Worth it to do a hard reset if you will on my eating and drinking habits!

  6. JJ and I have decided to start this next week. That will give us the full 21 days before our vacation to the lake so we’ll see if we can stick with it! Good luck…to all of us! I know we’ll (JJ and I) need it. 🙂

    1. Good luck! I am totally loving it so far!!

    2. Oh – and let me know if you want a link to my Pinterest board where I’m pinning recipes

      1. Absolutely! Any help we can get is much appreciated!

  7. Doing my mason jar salads right now! And reminded myself that my steps still count, even though I forgot my FitBit 🙂

    1. I managed to track 8800 steps and then changed into my workout clothes. Forgot my fitbit and I KNOW I would have reached my 10,000 goal by the end of my class. I was telling myself all night long that those steps still count even if FitBit doesn’t say so 🙂

    2. Until this week, I literally made them every week for the last 3.5 months! I’m mixing things up during this challenge, but I think next week I’ll even try to make my challenge meals be mason jar recipes too. I love them so much, and it was hugely increasing the amount of greens i was eating.

  8. I’ve started pinning recipes and I think when I have enough of them I am going to do a meal plan. I know I’ll do better if J does it with me, but when I’ve brought it up to him he gives me a weird look.

I started on Sunday! Lots of planning, but I love how this is all real food. I am doing the extreme workouts, just got them in the mail yesterday. Good luck Jos

    1. Definitely! I’m impressed that I haven’t been hungry, even though I’m eating a few hundred calories less than I’m used to. Real, nutritious food goes a long way. 🙂 I thought about doing the extreme workouts but i got scared. LOL

I love the 21 Day Fix, always get great results but be careful with the yogurt, it’s full of sugar which defeats the purpose. The plain kind is yucky so I usually hunt around for the one with the least amount of sugar.

    1. Yeah, I have the plain Greek yogurt which is pretty low in sugar – the strawberry Yoplait was for my husband. 🙂

  11. I look forward to hearing how this goes for you! I saw a comment from you somewhere saying you were going to be starting this program. I had no idea what it was, so I googled it. Looks super interesting!! I can’t get it over here, but I have been inspired to do sort of a bootleg version of the eating plan, going by volume sizes of the containers and other lists, etc. that I’ve been able to find online. Basically I’m focusing on clean eating more or less within the general quantity guidelines of the plan. I had a few questions for you:

    – Do you force yourself to eat all of the containers? Yesterday, for example, I estimate I’d have had part of 1 red, 1 purple, and 1 yellow container “left over” at the end of the day. Would you actively try to avoid that?
    – I read somewhere that they recommend not eating carbs after 6pm. Are you doing that?
    – You’re done breastfeeding, I know, but would you have made any allowance for that?

Anyway, I’m excited to follow you and see how this works for you. I’m giving myself certainly 18 full days of really clean eating (1st weekend in May is a holiday for us and we’ll go to the mountains, so…) and hopefully more. I’ve also started an 8 week online bootcamp-type exercise plan. I have high hopes. 🙂

    1. I’m answering most of these in my post that goes up tomorrow! I’m throwing a Baby shower May 2nd, which would be day 21 for me, so it might just be a 20 day fix for me. Ha! Better than not doing anything at all though!

  12. 5:30 am workouts – ugh. But yay! I missed the mason jar salads this week and I am feeling it for sure. I am a bit head in the sand about this post as I sit here drinking my wine and lusting after cheese. Stop being so dang freaking inspiring.

  13. Even though we aren’t following the exact same plan, I feel like we are doing it together. It is always easier to know that someone is getting up early too- although I do 6. I’ve been shocked with how full I feel. Sugar has been the more difficult part, but even that isn’t so bad. It is what it is. Yah?
