I know it has only been 3 weeks since my last Stitch Fix post, but I moved this box up just because I was hoping for one more awesome new item to bring on vacation with me next weekend. This fix wasn’t a 5/5 for me by any means, but it was way better than my last one and I’m very appreciative how much more time this stylist seems to have spent on my box. My goal with each fix is to find one item that I totally love – anything beyond that I consider icing on the cake. I’m excited to hear what you guys think!
All items are size medium (and jeans are a size 10) for reference.

May Pink (Nalia Knot Front Knit Top – $38)
This was the first top I pulled on, and I can’t decide what I think about it. It’s super comfortable, and I suppose the front knots must be trendy again, though it just makes me think of jr. high in the 90s. Am I the only one who thinks that? Also, does it bag weird at my already poochy belly area? – DEBATING
Kut From the Kloth (Kate Boyfriend Jean – $78)
KFTK is definitely a big brand in the SF world, and I really like their pants. I know a lot of people tend to size down though, and I see why. Both pairs I’ve gotten have fit great, but they have a little stretch in them and get baggy pretty quickly. Honestly, I wore these pants on Saturday morning and kept them on long enough that I decided these are for sure going to be kept. I washed them and dried them (which I don’t normally do with jeans because of length considerations) in hopes of shrinking them a bit. When I first pulled these on I thought “meh” – the leg style does nothing for me. Then I looked at the style card and realized most people cuff the bottom of boyfriend jeans, and bam! MUCH better. I can dress these up with low heels and a nice shirt for work or dress down with flip flops and a simple tee on the weekend. – KEPT
Le Lis (Manuel Lace Detail Knit Top – $44)
Um, nope. I wanted to like this shirt, I really did, but it’s horribly unflattering on my midsection and just drapes oddly on my torso in general. I loved the lace detail on the back and shoulders, but as a whole the shirt just didn’t work for me. No thanks. – RETURNED
Gilli (Gabbiey Sleeveless Maxi Dress – $74)
I pulled this dress out and was SO excited to try it on. The fabric was so soft and smooth and I loved the cut and the low v-neck in the front… but thanks to two children and too many beers lately, this dress unfortunately does me no favors in the belly area. I’d love it if I was actually pregnant or newly postpartum, but with a 16 month old I don’t love that I look pregnant in the dress, so this is going to have to be a return. Points to my stylist for sending me something right up my alley style-wise. It’s not her fault I have issues sticking to my workout plan. 😉 I’m going to remind them that I really don’t want dresses in my fixes though – they just tend to be a higher price point and I don’t have much desire or opportunity to wear them, so I’d rather have more tops that can be dressed up or down for work or play. Also, this was a little short for me (I’m 5’8″) and for that much money I’d want the length to be perfect as well. – RETURNED
Renee C (Jordi Ikat Print Maxi Skirt – $58)
I’ve honestly never owned a long maxi skirt, but I kind of love this one. My stylist mentioned that it’d be great for summer music festivals (which we go to every Thursday night in June and July here), and she’s totally right. Thoughts? Nice enough to keep at that price point? It’s dry clean only (ICK, does anyone have tips for how to wash a dry clean only item at home?) but SO comfy. The entire time I was wearing it Stella told me over and over how beautiful it was and how much she loved it. It definitely made me like it a little more. 😉 What do you think? – DEBATING

So there you go! After my disaster of a fix last month, I was very happy with how much my stylist paid attention to my feedback and preferences this time. Their customer service was phenomenal when I reached out with my concerns, and it really seems like they made an effort to hit the mark for me. I don’t expect every fix to be perfect, but I do like that they push me outside of my comfort zone a bit and that bit by bit I’m building a nicer wardrobe for myself.

Hi there Josey! I feel a bit like a stalker, as I don’t think I’ve ever commented, but have been reading your blog since you were pregnant with Stella. I also had trouble with IF and after a 5 year journey have 1 year old B/G twins. Anyway…..I also love Kut jeans. I’m not sure if you have a Nordstrom Rack near you, but I try to buy mine there because they are usually 1/2 the price for last years wash. I love the maxi skirt on you.

I’m 6 hrs from Denver, and that’s the closest shopping…so yeah, that’s a big part of why I like SF. I’m just nowhere near any good shopping, so it’s often worth it to pay more than to drive 6 hrs and pay for hotel/food/etc and go shopping. 🙂

That skirt is FANTASTIC! I cannot wear maxi skirts (trust me, it’s true and even Brian agrees) and love to see others look great in them. You look great in this one! Must keep.

If the exact same style/size/wash is actually available online, they will price match it. I haven’t been able to find these. I did find the lighter wash (which I dislike) for $43, so I will e-mail customer service and see if they will at least price match to that. We shall see. 🙂
I just heard back from them –> “I just heard back from our buyers and unfortunately, it looks like these two items are different and we are unable to offer a price match. The version that was sent to you are a Stitch Fix only style. After comparing the two items, they found that our item is different than the item you passed along due to a difference in wash (ours are darker than the Nordstrom Rack pair), inseam (ours is 31 in. and Nordstrom Rack pair is 30 in.) and distressing (ours has no distressing while the Nordstrom Rack pair does). Sorry to keep you waiting.”
So it’s nice they actually look. I have heard of instances where the same item was found elsewhere and the price was matched, but obviously they are diligent about ensuring they are actually identical items. Since I prefer the darker wash and longer inseam, it’s worth the extra money to me to get the SF pair!
I love the jeans on you! The knotted shirt, yeah I would probably pass. Unless you have a lot of 90s dance parties on your social calendar, then I’d totally keep it. Then again you do not live in Portland so I’m guessing you don’t have a lot of 90s dance parties on your calendar. 😉
I like the maxi skirt. It’s fun and probably pretty cozy. That said, if you don’t think you’d reach for it very often you should pass. I have two maxi skirts that I wore a ton while I was pregnant and I still wear them, though slightly less often. It’s like wearing PJs to work, the coziest!
Hmmmm… Okay, so the jeans look fabulous. Glad you’re keeping them (I obviously have no idea or opinion about their availability elsewhere). They make you look great and they make me want to go find some for me.
I dislike immensely both shirts. The lace one has promise in design and details, but the cut is completely wrong. The striped one is just wrong. That knot is terrible, and the neck and sleeves are almost as bad. Just, no.
The top of the dress is indeed really pretty on you. But you’re right about the cut and the length.
Personally I don’t love the skirt. The cut is great, it fits you well, and is quite flattering, but I really don’t like the print much. That, however, is a totally personal thing, so if you do like it and think you’d get good use out of it, then definitely keep it.
The jeans are seriously awesome and SO perfect for summer! I told C above that SF will price match if you find an identical pair for cheaper elsewhere, but I looked and actually haven’t found these (I did find a different wash, so we’ll see if they honor it, but I doubt it). For me, I’m not willing to like these and then order a different pair that may fit differently because they’re a different style. I’ll pay good money for a great pair of jeans. 🙂

I’m still torn on the skirt – I think i’m going to keep it, because I tend to wear plain white/black tops, and those are easy to pair with this skirt.

Love the maxi skirt on you and I thought music festival even before I read your comments about attending them. They are perfect for tall girls because you can adjust the length a bit depending on the shoes you wear. And who doesn’t love receiving a compliment from their daughter? Definitely a plus. And a keeper!
Exactly! I love that it’s very easy to adjust length on whether I have flip flops or wedge sandals on (music festivals or work!). I put it on this morning again and Stella again said “oh mommy, I LOVE that skirt. It’s so beautiful on you!” I think I’m sold just because of that. 🙂
Dryel kits bought from the store work great at home for dry cleaning.
Also if unlined the item can usually be hand washed or washed on gentle cycle and hang to dry, while still slightly damp, turn inside out and iron then hang to finish drying

I always take my “dry clean only” pants/shirts for work and wash them in cold water on the gentle cycle and then hang dry. Saves a lot of money and haven’t really had any problems with that.
I wouldn’t buy anything that had to be dry cleaned….but that is just because I am lazy and don’t feel like dealing with high maintenance clothes.
The knotted shirt is not a good look. I do like the maxi skirt though!

I LOVE the skirt! I would keep that in a heartbeat! I never wore a maxi skirt until I was pregnant last summer and I lived in it. I will definitely be buying some non-maternity ones for this summer! (If it ever stops snowing here.) The striped shirt is cute, but the way it gathers in the front, along with the stripes, isn’t flattering on anyone. I would pass. Plus yeah, we’re knotting shirts again? Where’s your side ponytail? 😉
Also just wanted to comment on the hug that Harv is giving you in the maxi skirt picture. Alex LOVES to do that exact same thing, but he’s a really tall boy so his head nestles perfectly into my ladyland. I’ll never say no to a hug from my boy but it sure makes for an awkward moment! 😉

I vote yes on the skirt 🙂 And I think someone else mentioned it but a Dryel kit works great. It isn’t like skirts have to be washed every single time either (unless there’s a stain). And I also rarely dry-clean when it says too unless there’s complicated beading/stitching or a really fragile fabric like silk or a really nice cashmere. Cold water, gentle cycle, and air-dry totally works.
I skimmed the post like three times to figure out if that white shirt with the jeans was yours or not. It looks amazing on you.
The knot shirt looks like a vagina at the bottom.
I just wouldn’t wash the skirt if I were you. If you’re going to wear it to music festivals, a little dirt or grass (or beer) here and there isn’t going to be noticeable and will be quite appropriate and expected 🙂

Yep, the white v-neck shirt was bought at a local store a few years ago. I love it every time I wear it, and for some reason before I just didn’t pull it out often. Now with my pared down closet I’m seeing it and wearing it more often!

Yeah, and the knot is like sewn in – no “unknotting” it at all. After reading everyone’s feedback, I’m over it. I think the skirt & jeans are winners though. 🙂
Ok, so I’m gonna go out on a limb and maybe sound dumb, but what’s the difference between skinny jeans and boyfriend jeans? Are boyfriend jeans just a little looser? Because on a previous stitch fix post I mentioned rolling the jeans and you said you couldn’t pull it off with your height, but I think they look great on you in the pictures above! And totally makes me think of summer (which we could use a bit of around here, hello Middle of May and the high is only in the 40s!) Anyway, I’d say no on the tops too. I had no idea the knots were coming back, I sure hope not. I really like the skirt too, but I’d go to Target or Old Navy at their price point before spending that much.
Skinny jeans are tight – boyfriend jeans have a very relaxed fit to them. It helps create a straighter line from hip to calf which I think is more flattering for rolling cuffs on my legs (I have bigger thighs).
I saw knots in shirts all over yesterday at JCPenny & Target. ICK!
I saw other maxi skirts for cheaper yesterday, but the material was definitely not as nice. I bought 6 summer tanks at JCPenny for $50 yesterday and was ecstatic, but I’m liking have a few key pieces that are better quality and should last more than a year or whatever!
