WWW – Summertime Goals

7 weeks have passed since I wrote this post about my plantar fasciitis, and I’ve been trying really hard to take it easy and let that injury heal. Weekly chiropractor appointments for 4 weeks helped a TON, and scaling way back on activity and doing lots of stretching instead also helped a bunch. I’ve also been crazy busy at work and summer evenings and weekends are always packed with activities as well, so exercising has fallen on the back burner a bit.

However, even though you can’t outwork a crappy diet, exercising a lot does help offset calories, so last week I decided to start getting back at it with my exercise. This morning I weighed in at 164.7#. That’s about the same as what I weighed 7 weeks ago, though I’ve vacillated up and down in the 160’s during that time. I’m thinking of going to my friends’ wedding in Vegas on Wednesday, September 9th. That’s only 7 weeks from today, and I really want to feel better about myself by then! The problem is that by just doing 6 workouts on the elliptical in the past 9 days, my plantar fasciitis is already flaring up and I could hardly bear weight this morning again. GAH!

My plan for the next 7 weeks is as follows:

  • Re-start chiropractic work on my foot. She does everything from laser therapy to adjustments on it & kiensio taping, and it helps SO much. During school she worked with the head chiro for a NFL team who focused on sports injuries for serious athletes and she learned SO much about feet, it’s amazing!
  • Try some yoga / Pilates exercises and see if I can baby my foot but still get some calorie burn in since apparently I can’t even handle the elliptical at this point.
  • Do another 21 Day Fix in August to dial in my nutrition (which will partly span my 11 day vacation and will hopefully keep me in check food/drink wise!). I’ve been loosely following their eating plans all summer, but I want to hit it hard and see what I can really do!
  • Lose 7.2# in 7 weeks. I weighed 157.5# last September at my friend’s wedding in St. Louis and I felt pretty darn good. As I said back then, “I’m so much happier with how I look in pictures already. So much better than when I was 10# higher than this and not working out.” Ahem. Oops. I want to feel like that again!

So there ya go – a pound a week. Totally reasonable and doable, and if I’m working out and doing toning exercises at the same time, I know I’ll feel a gazillion times better about myself and have so much more energy come September.

The never ending battle continues. 🙂

That sucks about your foot! Hopefully you’ll enjoy the yoga and Pilates. You know I hate exercise, but I actually don’t really mind Pilates that much. Maybe that means you’ll hate it haha.

I have no doubt whatsoever you’ll stick to your plan and see great results. Good luck!

  3. Ack, sorry to hear that the plantar fasciatis is still bothering you – that is no good. I think your plan sounds like a good one. As always, your motivation and enthusiasm are inspiring! I especially like the quote in the picture – I needed to hear that today!
